I need to know how i can go about doing that, i have had a roof leak in my ceiling for about 4 months and every time I call and ask when it is going to be fixed they tell me in the next few days!! I still have about 7 months on my lease and now i dont know what to do my walls and ceiling is growing mold. I have spoke to the leasing office and they wont say anything besides the roofers are coming in a few days.... last friday the regular maintience man came out and looked at the roof and put caluck on the inside of my roof in the attic but i thought that was for sealing bathtubs and we are about to get another down pour tonight!! what should i do??

Do I go to a real estate agent? Do I go to a bank or mortgage company first? How do I find out about first time buyers benefits? Does it cost anything to get pre-qualified? What kind of money do I need up front? I've never bought a house before and have no idea where to start. Any suggestions?

I'm selling my home in Orange County and I'm wonding if I will physically be attending the closing. Do the buyers attend? Or do the realtors and title company just do all the work?
Also, I arranged to have the proceeds wired to my bank account? How long does it usually take for a seller to get these funds?
Thanks!

I started renting in april and was paying 325 a month in cash to someone i knew on a personal level. I never signed a lease and continued paying my rent as usual each month with cash. Well in July the gas began to leak and was shut off. I tried over and over to get the owner to fix the problem and continually ignored it. I had no hot water or heat which wasnt a problem being it was summer. Finally in September he came back and disconected everything except the hot water tank so the gas company would turn the gas back on. I went without heat and refused to pay my rent in september and october. Now he claims i never paid rent at all and have no reciepts to prove otherwise. He says i owe him 1500 dollars and need to pay or he will file civil suit in the district magistrates office. I dont have the money to pay him let alone afford an atorney. Im wondering if he has the power to do so since i never entered a contract to rent from him to begin with.. Any input would be appreciated

A friend of mine is trying to get some info. She lives in a coop in Westchester county in NY and they want to convert it to a condo. I realize the condo will make the value much higher and it will be much easier to sell. They are saying there is no upfront cost but that they would ahve to get all new mortgages and they would include some of the coop's debt. Anybody know anything about this? The voting to change it is next month so she's trying to get all the info fbeforehand but the company doing it is obviously only focusing on the positive stuff.

I had to break my apartment lease due to relocation. My lease ends on 1/31/07 and I need to be out by 11/01/06. I have 30 days notice and advised that they can use my security deposit for the re-renting fee (as stated in the lease extension) of $550. No where does it say that I would also be responsible for the remaining rent on the lease. I know it is NJ law that you may be held responsible but I thought because the extension specifically stated "If you break the lease before the end date, you will be charged $550 for re-renting and refurbushing fees" Doesn't that mean that I would not owe anymore but the $550?

I own a condo, which I'm renting out. The tenant was supposed to pay a one month security deposit. He only paid a portion of it when he signed the lease and said he would pay the balance in two weeks. After numerous calls and promises, I'm assuming he just doesn't have the money. I am not as concerned with getting the security deposit, as I am that he may try to get back a full month's rent when he moves out. What steps should I take to protect myself?

Is this true that the HomeOwner Association doesn't have to fix the damage to your property they cause because of the contract they create.
They torn down my closet, my bathroom cabinet, and half the tiles in my bathroom, as well removing my shower head. They also torn my rugs out from the closet and the entrance to the bathroom to fix the copper pipe leak and remove all of the black (toxic) mold that they didn't fix from the third floor that should have been taken care of about six months ago that would have prevent diaster.
Now my place is a chaos. What are my rights and what can I do?

My question is limited to those living and working in London (I think the housing situation in other regions are less tense.)

Will it be too late if you can only afford to buy a property 4 or 5 years from now? For example, you may not have enough deposit at the moment, so you can't buy yet. But after a few years, when you save enough, then the price may increase too much, you can't buy a (good) house, too.

So, is there hope for those who can't buy now?

I have put an offer in on a flat that includes a share in the freehold. I am not sure yet what the length on the lease is yet but would like to know whether I am still likely to face high costs of renewing it if necessary? Is the process easier as a shared freehold? Is it true all the flats' leases have to be renewed at the same time? Is less than 80 years remaining still considered to be worthy of caution when buying such a flat?
