As questioned. We're foreign students. Our contract didn't cite that we have to pay whole rent of contract period if we move out before that. I was told that if there's no such clause, then i may only lose the deposit. Is that correct? If he really takes us to court, what's the worst thing I might face? Our landlord is a solicitor and I'm worried that he might take actions. The reason of moving out is because the house is overwhelming bed bugs n' my flatmate is very sensitive to insect bites. Though pest controller came, concil environment adviser told us the life cycle is a year and they won't gurantee bed bugs will be killed all and they might come back again. Had asked concil home visitor write a note to prove that our property is not fit to habitate but he said b/c it's bed bugs so they can't provide us such doc. Don't know why. Since landlord refused to change carpet and old furniture which we found lots of bed bugs, we decided to move out. Can anyone help with solutions? Thanks

When I moved into my apartment I was told by the leasing agent that I was paying a $299 deposit. Like most people I took her word that everything was legit and signed the agreement. After reviewing the agreement I found out that a $299 deposit is really a $49.00 deposit and $250.00 non refundable administrative fee. Is there anything I can do because I feel like I just got screwed heavily.

is selling his townhouse and moving in with me. In order to close on the sale, he will have to come up with about $10,000.00 for closing costs (including taxes and accured interest). He is already owes $40,000.00 in other debt. My question is ..should he go into more debt to close on the house or should he just let it go to forclosure?

I found out that my house falls with in an area of soil contamination. The letter came from the Health Dept. and it stated that there was no threat to the municipal wells at this point but they are setting up a task force to monitor what the EPA is currently doing to protect the water source. What I am concerned about is whether I am required to disclose this if I go to sell my home. Also property values...will this effect the value of my home?

We moved to a neighborhood and about 3 months after moving here, the SWAT team showed up next door and surrounded the building because of a drug dealer. We want to move because we don't feel safe. I read in one of my landlord books that a landlord cannot force a tenant to pay the remaining rent on a broken lease. Is this true? What if we break a lease because of safety issues? We thought we just heard a gunshot about 10 minutes ago.

I am trying to rent my home. This is the first time I am trying to do this, and I would like to have some help from people who have been there. Does anyone have a good rental contract that they can send me? I am renting from the state of Texas, so I do not know if they do it differently. I have to move out of state because of the military, so I will not be able to be around the property. I know that a property manager would be the best bet, but I do not think that I can afford that. If you got any ideas or suggestions, please let me know. lampasashome@hotmail.com Thanks again!
