Our mortgage lender has filed for bankruptcy protection. We assume that our mortgage in the bankruptcy proceeding will be sold to another lender at a greatly reduced price. Example: We owe $200,000 on our mortgage with the bankrupt lender. Another lender might buy it for $100,000. Is it possible to "buy" our own loan, from our current lender, while they are in bankruptcy, at a greatly reduced price, just like another lender will eventually do ?? We feel that we need to ask this question if it is possible because if another lender can buy it at a greatly reduced price, why not us, the mortgagee ??
Thank you for all answers to this question

My payment is due on Monday 8/20 and I payed Friday 8/17 in the early morning over the phone by check. If on my account online it hasn't showed that I've payed yet and by Monday it still doesn't show. Do I get charged a late fee? Or do I always have to make sure that I give enough time in advance for the check to clear?

I have had a capital one card for years now, it only has a $500 limit w/ a high intrest rate and I have NEVER been late on it. After significantly improving my credit (years of work) I applied for the next step up capital one card that has a 12% intrest rate and I was denied! 1 week later Citi bank sent me an offer of 12% with 0% on balance transfers for 1 year and I was approved in seconds for a MUCH higher limit than my capital one card. I am so offended by capital one, I transfered my $500 card and plan on canceling it. Why did this happen?

ok, the car was a lemon- it went out-the trans- 6 months after it was 'loaned to us' from the bank, insurance would not pay- this was 6 years ago.
for 2 years now we have been paying on it- but its not going anywhere
we asked the person that manages our account to help us out, but he was very rude and did not want to help,so we told him we are not sending anymore payments until we can work out a deal, what can we do to get this resolved to look better on our credit? paying a lump sum right now is out of the question until tax time, any help?

The wife was told that she had to pay her new husband's account from a few years back or they would shut off her power. She was told they could do that because he was having benefit of the power. They don't mind paying it, but they are demanding an enormous (for them) amount of money and only the wife is currently employed and they have to move because the house they are renting is sold. They just can't do it. Help! I need to know quick

So everyone freaks out when they hear "interest only" loans. But with a regular loan, all interest is lumped to the front of the loan anyway and you end up paying less than a $100 a month toward principle anyway. So is "interest only" really that bad?

My husband and I are considering bankruptcy. We have about 50,000 in debt and he recently lost his job through no fault of his own. We want to keep our vehicles that have financing out there as well as our mobile home. My question is when we go to reaffirm our mobile home loan, do they have to contact the co-signer also(my parents) and will it also show on their credit report? I do not them to know about this at this time. We are good people that were paying there bills and then were struck down and out of luck. Any answers would be helpful but please no critisicm.

Can you do a credit check on your own address, rather than on you as a person?

I bought my home six years ago and since that time I keep getting things for the previous owners (lived for 15 years at the property), plus I am now getting them for someone who has never lived at my address.

These are everything for tax due on cars to checks for credit.

Today I received a letter stating that I am preapproved for an American Express Preffered Rewards Green Card. I have no idea what my actual credit score is (FICO). What kind of credit score do you think I have if I am approved for this card? I've heard it's difficult to get approved. I'm only 19 years old so I'm really curious. Thanks.

I had an account with ugly duckling for a car that was a lemon. My last activity on the car was in March of 2001, when I told them to come and get it, because I refused to pay for a big potted plant in my yard! They eventually charged the account off, and sold it to another company, who also shows up on my credit reports. This happened in 2005. My question is, when Ugly Duckling drops off of my credit reports, will the other company drop off too? If not will I have to wait til 2012 for it to run its course too?

I made last payments since about 6 years and some of them even more than 7 yrs. some stopped contacting me and some still. Should I pay those who contact me? If I do pay it and they agree to remove it completely, are they forced to do so?
