Why is it that when you close a credit card account it reflects negatively against your credit rating? Wouldn’t leaving it open with a zero balance be more of a credit risk, seeing that the card/account can still be used at any time possibly quickly altering your income to debt ratio?

I'm in my last year of college and I have about $920 in credit card debt. Some people have told me that's not a lot, but I still always feel like it's hanging over my head. I'm hoping to pay it off pretty quickly when I graduate and get a full time job. Does that seem like a lot of debt?

OK...I screwed Up and Made a BIG mistake by Financing a Car From JD Byrider....I decided that paying $10,0000 for a $4500 Car was stupid, and gave them the car back....Is there someone out there who will still give me a car loan ( I have pretty crappy credit too) Without a huge down payment, if one at all....and maybe not try to rip me off as much? Maybe CarMax?

I stupidly agreed to cosign a car loan with my then-boyfriend (Yes, big mistake. Yes I've learned). He has been paying all the payments on time, but I don't want to have any more commitments to him/this. Is there any way I can get my name off the loan? How?

Thanks.

I have just about $5,000 in debt from credit cards, and I can't work full time because I go to school full time. I want to consolidate my bills so theres just one easy payment each month, not 10 or 11, because I can handle one. Does anyone know of any companies that help consolidate loans or credit card companies that give out high limit cards strictly to transfer balances. I'm only 19 and would never file for banctrupcy but I need to get them all organized so I don't get to far behind in late fees.

And please, no lectures on "oh well you shouldn't have used credit in the first place, you should have known this would happen." haha Yeah, I know. I'm kicking myself over it now, and I'd just appreciate some suggestions. thanks!

How long do collection accounts stay on your credit report? Even after they are paid in full?

On one of these posts, someone recommended that I send the collection agencies a PAY FOR DELETION letter. To do that I need to send them the letter but they make all these excuses about not having "authorization" to give me their address. Why is this?

I just paid off a credit card debt and I was wondering if it is better for my credit score to keep the card open and have a $0 balance on it, or to close it? Thanks in advance for any help.

I have gathered quite a few loans in my name over the years. They problem now is that the payments are causing me some trouble. I am still maintaining A1 on my payment history but I would like to consolidate all the loans into 1 big payment. the debt consolidators that I spoke with said that I didn't have enough debt to help me. (My debt is 15,000) I tried to get a large enough loan to pay out the rest of them but they said i had too many loans already and that if i didn't, they would give me the loan. Can anyone tell me what I should do?

I called credit card co because I couldnt give pymnt on time.plus when I saw statement they had raised my APR because they said I had been late once before!..NOTE: I have had this card for 21 years and had been giving my payments on time...until now...I was surfing the net and found out alot of cr card companies are doing the same. ..but the govt is already going to pressure them to stop charging too much interest! They said they could "freeze" my cr card acct. where my interest would stop accruing? Anybody heard about this?

After my 341 hearing the trustee informed me that I am over the limit of income to qualify. He is including my car allowance as part of my gross income while my attorney, who I paid $2,600 to, told me that they would not include this as part of the income calculation. So, I would rather negotiate with my debtors and keep my car, cash, etc...than give it to the trustee. Can I retract my Chapter 13 filing now?
