Four years ago the bank didn't close my account like I requested and started putting money in it (overdraft protection that I didn't even have) and charged fees and all that. I didn't find this out until there was 250.00 owing and the bank "closed" the account offically. 2 years of arguing with them and showing them that it was their error, I gave up and just went cash only. Now, today I got a letter from a collection agency saying that I owe them 368.00 I am used to dealing with collection companies, but is it different when the account was a bank? If I didn't pay the 250 I am certainly not paying the collection agency. My main question is are there different rules for collections for a bank then for a credit card?

I have a credit agency (NCO) that their only answer to me is pretty much ummm...............I don't know Goodbye. Yet they are the only things on my credit that is causing it to be were it is at. I just want an honest answer out of them is there anyway to force them to comply and get rid of it or even update the Credit reprot to say PAID. Also is there anything against Medical Bills from being on your credit or any kind of laws they have to follow other than FCRA

I received a telephone call from someone (user unknown on the Caller ID). A recorded voice says "Hello. This is Credit Card Services. You have now qualified to receive an interest rate of ....... on all of your credit cards. If you are not interested, press 6, and if you are interested press 9." When a girl got on the phone with me, I asked her if she worked for one of my credit card companies of a different company. She replied that they work with all the credit card companies.... MasterCard, Visa..... And I told her I would not give her any of my credit card numbers, so she hung up on me.

Confusion.
Delinquencies (30 – 180 days): Can remain seven years from the date of the initial missed payment.

Collection accounts: Remain seven years from the date of the initial missed payment that led to the collection (the original delinquency date). When a collection account is paid in full, it will be marked "paid collection" on the credit report.

Charged-off accounts: Remain seven years from the date of the initial missed payment that led to the charge off (the original delinquency date), even if payments are later made on the charged-off account.

Closed accounts: Closed accounts are accounts that are no longer available for further use. Closed accounts may or may not have a zero balance. Closed accounts with delinquencies remain seven years from the date they are reported closed, whether closed by the creditor or by the consumer. Positive closed accounts remain 10 years.

I just copied it, look it up under contact us. You can find it under Ask Max Credit Advice.

IT WAS ON MY CREDIT REPORT BUT, AFTER THE SEVEN YEARS IT WENT AWAY. I THOUGHT I WAS IN THE CLEAR BUT THEY ARE STIL CALLING ME. SHOULD I HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THEM GARNISHING MY CHECK OR FREEZING MY ACCOUNTS. I HAVE OTHER CARDS NOW AND EVEN A CAR. I KEEP NOTICING THAT THEY KEEP PULLING MY CREDIT. SHOULD I WORRY? I THOUGHT THAT THE FUNDS WERE INSURED, SO IF A CLIENT DOESNT PAY THEY GET THERE MONEY BACK ANYWAY.

This man that my brother does odd jobs for said that he can have this truck that was sitting in his backyard for years. The man told my brother that he was repairing it for some guy who never returned to pick it up and it's just been sitting there for years. In the mean time we found out that their is a lien on the vehicle from a Credit Acceptance Co. Does that mean that there are still payments owing on the truck. Is the company looking to repossess the truck or did the man who left it do an insurance job or what? I told my brother that something sounds fishy about this situation what do you all think?

i have one account in collections, and the rest are very far behind, i can work with most of them to get back on track except the one in collection, just wondering if it would be better to get a new loan to at least payoff the account in collection or get them all put into a credit counseling program? i was just hired at a new job, so either option would have to wait til i actually start working, but trying to figure out what to do to try to get out of this mess

I opened two retail credit cards back in 2000 when I was 18. I never paid them and they have always been on my credit report.
They are both in my revolving accts and the collection accounts.
The acct for Jc Pennys is owed $400. It is stated as being opened in 2005 and date of status in 2/2007. I did not open this acct in 2005, it was opened in 2000. Why it is listed twice and under different open dates is unbeknown to me. Does this mean it will remain for a few more years because I thought after 7 yrs they have to drop?
Will the Macy's drop as it was opened in 10/2000 too?
Should I pay them at this point? I want to fix my credit all up as I only have a few bills owed and $4000 debt (these two included in that debt). Will they drop and make my credit even worse?
I do not understand this stuff. I should have paid in the first place yrs ago!

I have a situation that a vendor is telling me that my credit card company did not pay them for a transaction that the credit card charged me on my statment. The vendor is trying to rebill me via mail, and the credit card company is refusing to call the vendor. What should I do? Do I have any rights as a card holder to force the company to call them?

I own several credit cards, but I just use a couple. Should I cancel the ones that I don't use? What is actually better for my credit, to cancel them or to keep them, despite the fact that i probably won't use them? I feel like cancelling them since it's a burden to keep track of so many credit cards, but I am afraid of damaging my credit history?
What do you recommend?
