Right now my FICO score is 584 (I made some bad mistakes a while back). Can I still qualify for a hime loan or am I condisered worthless? I have a great job (I've been w/ the same company for 14 years) and a nice salary. Should I even try? Or should I wait 2 more years for the charge offs to drop off my report?

I have five clients with an estimated outstanding combined balance of $2600.00 USD and we want to collect! I have been working with collection agencies but I am curious, can I send the information to the credit bureaus as a delinquent account? This would obviously add clout and help me collect on the outstanding balances. I believe the statute of limitations is 5 years in Maryland, so I have plent of time to get this done. Any information would be helpful.

I just got the letter from their lawyers stating that might come after me and take me to court. It is an old SBC bill for $2800.00 from back in 2003, what happens if they sue me? What does a judgement against me mean? Do I have to go to court? How bad is this really? If they get a judgement against me can they garnish my wages for that money? I am so confused.....

"I owe, I owe," as the old saying goes and DO I OWE a lot.

(Students loans and credit cards...what a vicious circle!)

Tell me your story (no REAL personal details please) and maybe I can learn from YOU..

Someone Posted this on another answer and I'd like to know if it's true:
(Also..if it is true, what are the consequences to the Collection Agency if they do contact you after sending this letter)

Here is a little known secret - you DO NOT have to deal with collection agencies - by law. All you need to do when getting a letter from a collection agency is state the following - by letter and signed with all names and account numbers noted:

My debt is not with you, it is with (fill in the blank). You are hereby notified that you may not contact me in any way, shape or form regarding this debt from this day forward.

Send it certified mail, return receipt requested.

If you respond to a collection agency in any way other than that from the first contact, you have in actuality validated their efforts to collect the funds, whether they are legitimate or not.

I have an Old Navy card that use to have a limit of $400, they raised it to $750 does that have a negative impact on my credit and my credit score or does it look good? Also what affect will it have if I ask them to lower it again, or close the account out completely?

I am trying to work on my credit score to get a good interest rate on a home loan, any advice will be very appreciated!

Thank You!
Tracy

I am just about in over my head with my credit cards. It's becoming harder and harder to pay the bills. I don't want to declare bankruptcy. Is it possible to call your credit card companies and negotiate a pay-off?? Ex: I owe $8000 could I negotiate to pay only $6000?
