I am in the process of repairing my credit report on my own. I have paid off 3 accounts listed on my credit reports this year. I noticed that everyone saying that one cannot remove negative items from their credit report and must wait 7 years for the negative items to fall off. My question is if I am trying to clean up my credit report on my own, why does it takes 7 years for these items to fall off and a credit repair company will clear the negative item off in 30 to 45 days? I am not understanding this.

I broke the lease about 3 years ago, for two reasons the bad conditions and service from the apartment complex and the fact that I wanted to purchase a house. Now they have put a $5000 collections account on my credit. They don't deserve a penny, they are trying to charge me for all kinds of stuff like carpet, clean up, ect.. The kicker with the carpet is that it was already stained when I moved in and I filled out a sheet that stated the fact. Now the apartment complex has sold out to condos so they are not even in business any more. Please let me know if any one knows how to fix this.

I woke up today to find my checking acount with a zero balance, I went to the ATM and could not withdraw funds from my savings accoung. I called up my bank and asked them what was up and they said by court order my funds were frozen and gave me the phone number to the lawfirm.

The amount they are seeking is twice what I have in my accounts, the bank representative said my money is still there - I just need to reach an agreement with the lawfirm to get my funds released otherwise they will need to speak with my bank's lawyers to try to seize the funds.

Do I have any leverage in this situation, I know the agency has already recieved a judgement against me - as can be seen in my credit reports. Do I have to pay the full amount or is there a chance I can settle for a %? Previously they sent an offer to settle at 80% but that was over a year ago. I would rather not go the bankruptcy route (chapter 13), but is that an option or is it too late?

What options do I have?

Here is my situation: I am about 8k to 10k in debt, with really bad credit. 90% is medical bills that I could not help because I had no insuranse. The rest is unpaid bills like cell phone, electric co. etc, and 1 credit card that is wriiten off as "bad debt". I'm only 23 and i want to fix this so I can buy a home, car, and start buliding credit again. If I just start paying them off with what I can afford monthly (which would only be about $200 at most) thid would take years to start rebuilding. Im also getting married next year with no one to help pay for it, my fiancee's credit is just as bad. What is the best thing for me to do to be able to at least buy a home? I don't want to be in my 30's and still living paycheck to paycheck. ive heard of debt consolidation loans, but if you need decent credit to get a loan, how to you obtain one. I know there are alot of scams that would take advantage of a person in my situation and I want to find a reputable company to work with. help!!!

I owe about 7k on a credit card. The CC company turned it over to a collection company. I found out today that the collector called my wife (Other than being married to me, has NOTHING to do with the card. It's not in her name, she doesn't use it, she doesn't have her own, etc.) The collector left a VOICEMAIL on her phone the amount past due, the account #, etc! We live in Michigan... It is my understanding that they can only talk to ME about the information.... they can only ask where to find me when they call friends/relatives. Did this collector do something illegal? If so, any advice on what to do about it from here? Thanks.

Financial difficulties left me with credit card debt. Some came off my credit report after 7 years. Since then I've paid balances in full and done everything to keep my credit in good condition. I rec'd a notice from a debt collection group on 2 accounts that are no longer on my credit reports. I'm not sure how to respond or if these can become part of my credit rating if not paid.

I can't seem to get approved for a credit card because I have little/no established credit. Someone told me about First Primier Bank but it costs about $300 just to get the card! Any suggestions for institutions with online applications that specialize in people with little/no credit?

I am having trouble with the Equifax Credit Bureau. They are not updating my current address on my credit file though I applied for credit from my new address which eventually changed the address on my credit file in Experian and Transunion.I also have faxed them a proof of my current address with a copy of my photo ID and also a letter clearly requesting them to update my address.I am having a lot problem lately for renting a car or leasing an apartment and almost everything that involves a credit check and every commercial organization request a credit report from Equifax which in my case they are not able to get because of the outdated address on my file.
