You need to have a SSN or ITIN number to get a US credit card. Even then if you are not a legal US resident, maybe an international businessman, you can only get a secured credit card, meaning you have to make a deposit with a bank. Your credit limit will be equal to your deposit amount.

Probably not, most cards require a Social Security number... I'm not an expert, but I work for a major Corporation, and you cannot get credit through us without being a legal US resident.
