I need to improve my credit a little faster than just paying what I have now on time. Is it worth it to pay someone to improne my credit? Is there somewhere recomended?

We have it 1/2 paid off & put more money in repairs than payments. We bought it used from a dealer. (2001 PT Cruiser) The warranty expired 60 days after we purchased it. In the warranty period there were transmission problems & they fixed it for free. Since the warranty expired, the timing went. The water pump went. The alternator went. Now this car is overheating & we can't find the problem. We tried everything. It's not the high speed or low speed relay. Not the fuses. Not the thermostat. Not the fan motor. We want the problem gone. We have already sunk almost $4000 in repairs into this car. I am afraid of it going on our credit record.

I am interesting in purchasing my first car. I do not have a co-signer available though. I don't think that I can apply for a bank loan because I don't think my credit score is high enough. What are my other options?

My wife is always getting calls that she is past due, and the bill isn't hers, but belongs to someone with the same name. Today she got a Mastercard bill that was maxed out over the limit, and had her address on it. I freaked on her, because I thought she had applied for a card that I didn't know about....Turns out it wasn't hers AGAIN. I was so mad, that when she phoned the company I wanted to jump right through the phone. What should we do about it?

It seems as if my husband and I can't get ahead. We have an 11 month old baby and the money we make just doesn't go far enough, so we put what we can't afford, until payday, on credit. Because of this, we now have a $7,000 credit card debt. We also want to buy a house. What do we do??

I earlier had posted a question about my CPA charging me $450 to do my taxes. Price was not discussed beforehand because my parents were paying for it in the past, so it was not a concern of mine. This past year I got the bill for $450 from the CPA stating that I have to pay it this year because my parents won't because we are not on speaking terms. I emailed him back saying $450 was way too much for a single w2 filer, and I offered him $200. He says the $450 stands because he did 5.5 hours of work, and that he "knows more lawyers than I do people". Do you think he would actually take me to court for this amount? If he does, would I wind up spending more defending myself in court? What should I do here? I feel like I'm getting totally ripped off!! Just to add to this, I never signed anything up front saying that I agreed to this price. Some of you are saying just pay him and chalk it up to experience, but does he really have a case if I didn't sign anything agreeing to the price?

I hate collections calls. Is it really any skin off these people's teeth if I pay my bill or not? And what's with the rudeness and judgement, they don't know my financial situation. I just think they'd be more apt to get people to pay their bills if they were more understanding and sympathetic. You know what I mean?

Credit card companies are allowed to increase interest rates to over 30% if they want. They also determine that the consumer is a poor credit risk if they have high balances on loans without looking at the fact that payments have been made in excess of amount billed and on a timely basis. It also seems that when a person nears retirement age, most companies increase the interest rate to the extent that it cannot be paid by a person on a reduced budget. This forces the older person to either go to a debt consolidation company (which charges for their services also) or quit paying, with the risk of loosing any assets that they have accumulated. Either way, embarrassing, harrassing phone calls have to be dealt with. A younger person with no home can file bankruptcy and they have no permanent consequence to this action. I am 62, have paid my bills all my life and now all interest rates increased and I can't make payments, even with debt consolidation. HELP-PUT LIMITS ON CREDIT CO.
