I am so embarrassed. I interviewed 3 days ago for a job. The employer said he'd get back to me the next day and DID NOT phone me, so I thought I didn't get it. My dad ended up calling both the managers to see what happened (yes, my dad). Then today I get an EMAIL saying I got the job, and I have to send my schedule of availability.

Should I just forget my dad called them? What do I do now? He left messages on both their answering machines...

I have a State job, and I'm at the end of a year-long probationary period. During my first 2 months of employment, I had 3 instances of petty misconduct (attending an out-of-office meeting w/o accompaniment, playing a sudoku puzzle on MS Excel, and coming back late from lunch). I was counseled on these incidents but was not terminated. At the end of the standard 6-month probationary period, they elected to extend the probation period, rather than give me permanent status or terminate me. Since then, I've had no incidents of misconduct, but I've heard rumblings that my boss is concerned I may simply not be a good fit for the job and may not receive the appointment.

If I'm terminated due to failing a working test period, could they successfully argue that I'm not entitled to unemployment due to incidents of misconduct that took place over 8 months ago? Or would they have to prove my termination was immediately precipitated by misconduct?

Thanks!

I want to apply to be a usps carrier, so i went to the site, you have to take the exam first obviously. well i didnt know my application number so i searched it, and my city was not listed, but two cities about a half hour away were on there. does that mean they arent hiring in my area or just that you can't take the test here.

I'm not talking calling references, I mean doing the formal background check that they do with the background check company to see your real work history.

I know that you have to agree with it and sign off for it, but how often do they actually follow through on it? Or, because it's retail do they really not care about it? If they are really desperate for workers, will they just skip that step?

Who is more likely to do it, small stores or big stores?

High school seems to be passing quickly, I'm already going to be a junior in highschool. And I am quite confused on what it is that I really want to be, I'm really focused on Photography but after researching pros and cons, being a photographer may not be the best choice although it's my main hobby.

I'm interested in ( Photography,Modeling and Psychology)
But don't know where to begin, I want a job that will pay good and something i will be focus on,
I'm good at computers but terrible at math.

it can be something aside from the three top things i've mention any ideas on what i should do this is worrying me a lot.

Please don't tell me to talk to my parents, that's not going to work i've tried various of times and i don't get a good respond.

Thank you =D

I have been at my current job for 7 years-in July. I work in advertising sales. I have NEVER received a pay raise. I am salary based + commission. Besides selling advertising, I am responsible for maintaining our website, rate sheets, and maintaining the ad database on our computers, as well as troubleshooting w/the iMacs, etc. I am only paid $7.50/hr + commission. In the past 12 months alone I have reached my sales goal + many times 50% above that. I think I deserve a raise. My requests for one go unanswered, matter of fact the head manager is avoiding me. I like my job, but, am getting really aggravated. Others around me who have been here fewer years have received raises. Any suggestions? What is a reasonable raise to expect? Thanks in advance!

I'm starting to feel down. The last paying job I held was in 10/2006. Usually I don't search for jobs and if I do I'm picky about it. Some of the interview calls I get from of those calls I only go to 50% to the interview. I do great in the interview and I know for sure interviewer is impressed with me but then I always get rejection letter. Then I question myself what is it i'm not doing right. I want to work and I know if they hire me that i be very good employee. Plz help. Oh i asked one of the company for feedback they never provided me that

My husband is working at a new job (started 2 days ago). well the foreman running the job puts down 8 hours and then leaves after 2. Once he leaves, the crew has to leave. This guy has been doing this about 2 years. My husband has worked for this company before, many years ago. Should he say something to the boss about this? He's nervous as the new guy and they may not believe him. He's also afraid that if boss finds out and he never said anything, he could be fired for that. Or they find out and say well you really only worked x amount of hours so that is what we will pay you. I can't even begin to think of an answer and any help would be greatly appreciated.

I put an application in last Thursday in for a job and my friend took one a day before. She got a call today but I didn't. I had more academic awards and club memberships than she did so I don't understand why I didn't get a call too? Might I get one tomorrow? My references were my pastor, previous employer, teacher, and a family friend. Was something wrong with those? Please help. I really want this job!

My boss said to me today, well if you can't perform, I have several other workers who are just as qualified to work your job.

Has it really come down to that? Employers used to beg for workers to stay. Now they don't care as so many people are out for the same job.

Funny story. I've been trying to get a job at this bank for quite some time. Last week I finally got an interview and it went well. They said they would call me on Monday to let me know if I got it or not. But on Monday, they never called. However, I got a call today from the HR manager at the bank (who does not work at that branch) and she offered me the job, which I accepted. However, when I was telling someone about my great new job, they told me they heard it was robbed two days ago. I looked it up, and sure enough it was. A masked man came in with a shotgun and a fake bomb and walked out with a bunch of cash. No one was hurt, but they haven't caught the guy and have no leads (He didn't drive a car, so they can't trace that. He rode a bike, which makes me think he lives close.)
The bank is not in a bad neighborhood. It is a rich, small rural town. This is the biggest story the city has had since the Frog Jump Championships last year.
What should I do? Should I still take it?
