Funny story. I've been trying to get a job at this bank for quite some time. Last week I finally got an interview and it went well. They said they would call me on Monday to let me know if I got it or not. But on Monday, they never called. However, I got a call today from the HR manager at the bank (who does not work at that branch) and she offered me the job, which I accepted. However, when I was telling someone about my great new job, they told me they heard it was robbed two days ago. I looked it up, and sure enough it was. A masked man came in with a shotgun and a fake bomb and walked out with a bunch of cash. No one was hurt, but they haven't caught the guy and have no leads (He didn't drive a car, so they can't trace that. He rode a bike, which makes me think he lives close.)
The bank is not in a bad neighborhood. It is a rich, small rural town. This is the biggest story the city has had since the Frog Jump Championships last year.
What should I do? Should I still take it?

If you do a google search on bank robbery statistics you will probably see that the odds of it re-occuring anytime soon will be slim. If I were you I would take the position.

Yes....I would take the job. The odds of this branch being rob again are very slim. But still I understand your concern. I also work at a bank as a part time teller. I have attended all those classes on bank robbery. These classes and film provide a lot of crucial information. Remember these...they will save your life. But you can not live your life in fear. If you are ever in this situation please remember to do exactly what the robber says....exactly! This little minor detail could and will save your life.
I use to work for a bank that had an actual police man as security. We had glass shields to protect the teller line. This branch gets robbed a lot. I only worked at this branch for 7 months. And during this time the branch was never robbed. Though it was on the bank of my mind all the time. Whenever the police man did not show up on time every employee in the branch began to panic. It was a stressful situation. This is the main reason why I transfered to another branch.
But you rest easy. When you attend those classes pay close attention and remember all the little details.
GOOD LUCK!

Banks are not the only bussinesses that get robbed. Although, they do get robbed more than the average bussiness.Once I worked at a restuarant 2 masked gunmen came in and took about 5 employees to the office at gunpoint including the manager.I ran like hell.I ran out back and hid behind a trash can little did I know a few minutes later the gunman ran right by me with his mask off he was still holding the gun.I had to give the description because I was the only one that seen him.I was lucky he did not shoot me.It is up to you if you ever want to risk being in this situation.

If you want the job you should take it. Every day people get killed on the highways and you still drive (I imagine). If you think it is unusually unsafe then no, but if it was just a coincidence then enjoy the new job.

I would take the job. He won't return to the scene, for fear someone would recognize him. (I bet he rode the bike to a getaway car and doesn't live in the area.) You are safe,
