I'm a banquet chef, so my busiest day is Saturday with weddings. I have a high school friend getting married this Saturday, and therefore requested the day off, which was okayed by my immediate supervisor, the Exec. Chef. There are three large weddings booked at my place of work this Saturday, so they'll be VERY busy and hectic. The Food and Beverage Director (the exec chef's boss) is very upset that I will not be there, and told the exec chef to find out when the last time I talked to my friend was, how we were friends, and how close we were. Does any of this even matter? Is the F & B director out of line for requesting this information? It is very frustrating to me to work your *** off for someone, and then, when you ask a favor, to get this kind of response.
