Well I just came back from the orientation... I have to go in 3 days of this week for training. I AM REALLY NERVOUS.

My position is a line cook, basically making all the sandwiches and salads... she gave me 2 booklets of food items that I should get familiar with. This is like my first time doing a job like this... I AM SO SCARED that I might screw up. How do cooks memorize 20+ items??? I don't know how I'm going to do it... (I'm starting to think more realistic).

I start tomorrow... but now my nervous thoughts are getting to me and I feel like I don't want to work there, even though I really need the money... I don't know what I should do!!!

OMG! Were you at my planet bread last night? If you were, or even if you were not, Don't worry, there are all the sandwich builds on line for you to read, same with salads and everything else. It is really easy.

If it was planet bread last night I gave you those 2 booklets as a guide for you, not to memorize overnight.

Also the e-learning you will make each of the sandwiches and salads about 7 times on the computer so you memorize them.... Your first day will be Dining room with e-learning and that is really easy. After that you will do more e-learning and spend a few hours on line with a trainer that is there to help you!

There is NO reason to feel nervous!
IT IS EASY!!!! trust me, don't worry.

Browse the booklets while doing something else like watching TV. Then set the book down and think "Ham and Brie" how do I make that and what kind of bread? Then check to make sure it's right. Or have someone randomly quiz you while you're eating or taking out the trash or something else mindless.

When I worked at an upscale sandwich shop, there was no training, but they let me tack up a menu above my station. And I took it home with me every day. Read, walk away, think. In 2 days I had the menu completely down pat. Don't worry, they know you're new.
