i applied for a job at movies and i had a job interview today
the intervieew went perfect but my employer wants to get in contact with my past jobs but i havent worked nearly all year and i left my jobs on bad terms (i didint quit my job formally)

now they are kicking my butt to get incontact with my job.
i decided to get a few people to lie for me to the employer but this is too much drama just to get a minimum wage job.

if i dont get this job, should i just lie on my next job and say i never worked before? im 19 years old so do you think i could get away with it?

i learned my lesson and now i know if i get a job i should stay there for at least 6 monthes and that i should do the 2 week notice thing.

so what should i do about this next job?

just give them the info. all your old jobs can tell them is that you did work there for that amount of time.

lying about it is WAY worse. people would rather hire someone who walks out than someone who lies.

There are 2 types of information they can get from your previous employer.

1. Is a simple confirmation that you worked there and what your job description was (usually contacting human resources or the accounts department).
2. A reference. This is where they have permission to give a free and frank description of what you were really like.

Privacy laws won't allow someone to give away information about without your permission, but of course when they are ringing about the first they may go fishing for the other information.

You should be upfront and tell the prospective employer that you were irresponsible at your last job, but that it has caused you problems and have learned your lesson. At 19 yrs ond, it is understandable. If you lie (which is continuing irresponsability) you will be continuing a bad pattern. Also most jobs won't bother to actually check your past employment, so plug away.

Yup, if you lie it will be alot worse.

You new employer can do a background check on you by accessing IRS data bases, so you would be found out.

Remember they can always find someone else.

If you front up with the truth and explain the situation to your potential boss in the best possible terms you can think of- "I left because of a difference of opinion and before things could get worse" it may appeal to the new boss.

Good luck :)

Don't lie to them for one thing.

But why do you think you should stay at a job for atleast six months; especially if its just a minimum wage gig? If the job sucks give them your two weeks and go find a one. I can see a six month rule for something more permanent and career oriented but not for the garbage some minimum wage jobs expect you to put up with.

Most employers should be mature enough not to badmouth you for the sake of revenge just because you quit informally.

On the otherhand, if you did have a poor work performance at these other jobs, lie about it or not, your new employer will find out soon enough what kind of worker you are!

I hope you learned your lesson. Got to be a grown-up now. Don't lie. Just give the new place your info and hope for the best. If they end up asking you about the situation, tell them you were young and stupid and you've matured a lot in the past year and understand that what you did was wrong. They may still hire you, if you're honest and seem to have really learned from your mistake.
Good luck. Jobs suck but that's just life.

You have an SSI Number, then any prospective employer can do a background check and if you lie, well,......GOTCHA !!
Best to be truthful and come clean.
The truth is easy, and you will NEVER be able to throw enough dirt to cover a lie(s).
So, go ahead and lie......you could land a dream job....THEN suddenly someday when things seem to be cruising along just fine, then SUDDENLY YOU ARE TERMINATED for lying on your original application to them. Try to explain that one away to another employer......
Be smart....or be stupid.....YOUR CHOICE........
