im 17 years old and ive been looking for a summer job around the neighborhood lately. i recently applied at souplantation and i called them a couple days ago to do a "follow up" the manager told me that another manager had already marked me down for a potential interview but she just hasnt had the time to call me. so he said he would let the other manager know that i called and she ( the other manager) would call me back on either thursday or friday ( two days ago ) thursday, they didnt call back and friday i went to rangin waters and unfortunately. my phone died on me. so i dont know if anyone called. now its sunday. how much longer should i wait before calling in again? i want the job. but i dont want to seem TOO pushy and get the manager annoyed. and at the same time, i dont know if the manager is speakin the truth, or what if he`s just makin up excuses because they dont want me? this is my first time gettin a job. i dont know what to do. any help would be apprciated. thanks!

I want to know if other people who were formerly employed by Starbuck's have the same feeling about it as I do. This company, like so many other minimum wage jobs, takes advantage of people by hiring tons of desperate people, working them like a slave for 3 to 6 months until they finally get burned out, then firing them, or cutting their hours way back so they are forced to quit. I would like to hear from people who are no longer working for Starbuck's.

I don't want to hear from people who are working there now. I know you think you landed a great job, but wait a few more months, and watch what happens.

I just got an interview at a bank, it's next week and I'm a little bit nervous. Can you give me some tips on how to act so I get the job and also what to wear? I'm 19 years old so if someone older with experience went in they would probably get it. How would I beat them? Please give me some tips...

I've working as a bus girl for this job for almost a year. You'd think the barriers of being shy would slowly fade away, but I still tend to get nervous and give off this awkward impression and now that I'm going to work as a waitress that level just increases to a 'woah' standard. Sheesh, anybody have some way to cool down my apprehension for this? Oh my, how I pray everything turns our for the best.

I currently have an office job and I don't like it. I have a degree in Baking/Pastry and am a freelance wedding cake designer. was offered an AMAZING pastry cook position at a very reputable wedding facility. The exec. chef told me that I would bake and plate desserts, but if I didn't like it, I could solely bake or plate. Also, he would find me another job at one of their other facilties if I didn't like this one. I could also help make their wedding cakes.
The problem is that he said that the pay is probably around $10.50/hour. I honestly can't afford take a job lower than $15.00/hour. But it's such a great opportunity! Is there something I can do? Are there any places or jobs I can get in NJ like this that would actually pay a decent amount?
Thanks for your help!

This is my first job and im going to be working as a waiter and i dont wanna put too little or too much, so any suggestions would be nice. I live in Cali and i think min wage is around $7 something, but they said they offer "highly competitive salaries", so i dont really know what to do.

This was about me being quiet i wrote about this yesterday but just incase you dont know they always complain that i'm too quiet, not that im anti-social, thats not the case at all, i'm just different from everyone. i speak to the customers, isnt that ever enough.

my name is always coming out of someone's mouth behind my back, they think i dont hear, but its becoming alot worse now. i dont feel comfortable at my job, and plus ive only been there for 5 months, it would look bad if i just left instead of staying there for at least a year.

they can't accept that i'm different, alot of times theres nothing to say, i can't just come up to people and start talking about things like "hey did you hear about the fight!" thats what they mostly talk about. wouldnt it seem wierd if you just came up to somebody and started to them! i dont know what else to do, im 20 and a half years old, should i suck it up and move on or just get out. (if thats the way life will be in the job field)

3 years ago i had a drug and alcohol prob...no one thought i would still be around, but i overcame both and now am one of the top performers at work. I have an interview july 3rd for the position i always wanted, but many internal managers are telling me that my character could be my fatal flaw. I have not only excelled at sales but I have had no incidents since. Of all the candidates I feel i have the most to offer (graduated while working full time with an MBA and with honors) have a stellar review from my current boss and have been a top producer, yet the stigma of my past still lingers....what can i do to gain more confidence in myself and pass that belief to my interviewing manager?
