I am a boat sailsman, but I never had a goods sense of direct shun and my peeple skillz are not so good. I was trying to sail a boat to a guy one time and he got all Andy Warhol on me so I says to him you buy this boat or I will come crashing down on your world like a tornado made of teeth & fingernails! So What I need to know is do they pay peeple as smart as me extra moneys for being all a big shot. Like if I pull up on my scooter, jump off, and karate chop some random dude and then give money to a bum - - they would think I was the hooker with a heart of gold type and hire me to be their See E. O.

I quit my job after 11 years, and have not found my niche yet. Did I pre-jump the ship, should I go back? Or say goodbye and just move forward.

(I worked at a "family owned" greek restaurant just for one day cause they need a "dishwasher", when the owner showed up shortly before closing time, & noticed how I had everything set up, & he yells: "WHAT'S THIS?!! anyways he blew up on me, was yelling like a "bat out of hell", washing & slamming dishes, (& I'm like backing away & thinking; "I'll never work for this ****** again!")however I did the job, he'd yell at me like I'm purposely trying to do the job wrong, (I've got 15 yrs. exp.)

(Sorry for bad english.)
I think I wanted to be a chef. But I'm not sure that I really wanted to be or not. You know they said you won't know until you know that you are or you are not. I can't experience my self so I'm not sure that I really want. I'm kind of afraid that It could be a mistakes.

They say Chef is job for only hardcore. I'm kind of soft person. Even though I'm man. I'm not sure that I like cooking. I mean basically I like cooking than most of other thing. And I'm good at cooking. But I'm not that sure about make a living for it. There's only two career that I wanted to be and I know that I'm good at. Mentall Therapist or Chef.

I'm confused. I don't even know my favorite color. How can I choose my career? They say if you really like it, than your heart beating fast but I don't know what it is. Yeah, my heart beating fast when I work out!

Well anyway, The question is simple. What it likes to be a chef?

I work at Wendy's now, and I just started orientation today. My manager gave me my schedule, but it's all over the place. Sometimes I work in the morning for 4 hours, or morning to night for 9 hours. Anyone used to work or work at a fast food restaurant currently that knows about this? I just want to know if these hours will always be like this or if I will get certain hours only. I have to wait until Monday to ask, so I rather just ask here now.

I am a student with a summer job at a supermarket shelf stacking. I am now in my 4th week there. I am finding the job very stressful, as I'm expected to get through a massive roll pallet alone in 1/2 hour alone (refrigerated products can't be kept out for any longer), deal with any customer questions I get in the meantime, and still have time to rotate the stock.
I am very meticulous about rotating the stock, but I am getting "remember to rotate the stock" every 5 minutes. I of my colleagues, who is training to be a deputy manager is unnecessarily and extremely bossy, and I feel upset about that.
I am also humiliated that the security guard insists on carrying out the routine procedure of security checking staff about twice / week. I have just come in from work and feel very stressed. my contract allows me to quit with a week's notice, but I've got 4 weeks left, and I don't want to feel like a wuss. The money isn't essential, but would be nice to have.

I was looking to pursue some classes in the culinary arts. There are (what they call) career specialization programs where you concentrate on an aspect of culinary arts that most interests you...ex baking, cooking, management etc.
These courses are 17 credits (instead of the associate degree program where you learn everything about culinary arts...that is 66 credits)
I wanted to do the baking/pastry course to gain more credentials than I have already in food service...i know nothing technical about baking or pastries.
so do you guys think these certificates are hooey or a worthwhile investment? If I applied to a bakery, supermarket or private..or if i worked for a catering company would i get the job over any other entry level person if i had this?

also (yes i know the actual degree would be better) but i can't afford it...no i don't want a 21 thousand dollar loan...do you..that's a lot of money when you make 8 bucks an hour and nobody can help you out.

Would anyone of you expect actually higher salary for working company like Starbucks?

Yes, they offer excellent health insurance for part-time workers who work at least 20 h/week, but I am not sure if I will work there more than 1 month, unless I worked at another location closer to my school. So benefits does not much concern me .

I started working at Wendy's as a crew member when I was 14.
I am still under 18, and I can not become a manager there. I have been at Wendy's for a long time now, and it seems like it will be forever until I turn 18.

Does anybody know of any restaurants (for chains, my ZIP is 49024) that have a step above an entry level crew position where you don't have to be 18?
It doesn't have to be a manager. Maybe a trainer or some sort of supervisor.

Thanks!
