Firefighter (especially smoke jumpers), police officer, and commercial fisherman are at the top of this list for dangerous. Soldiers of course - but people don't usually sign up to make money.

Working for the mafia, I would imagine. You never know when you will suddenly fall out of favour, and they don't just fire you if you have outlived your usefulness.

I would say working in mines. Cave-ins can happen, and the air is basically toxic.
