i have hired and fired people. i have also witnessed applications getting tossed based on how the applicants presented themselves and how their applications looked. if your applying for a job dress to the look and type of position and never use two different pens, white out, pencil, red ink or any other color besides black. blue ink allows the person hiring you to skim through the app faster because blue stands out from the black ink printed on the app. all it takes is for them to skim through not paying attention to the good qualifications and see something they don't like and throw it away.i have never seen anyone skim through black on black ink. sounds crazy but true. the more time they spend on your app the better it is for you even if its a few seconds.

That would give the prospective employer a negative impression on the applicant's quality of work. It is best to make the application as neat, organized, consistent and well prepared because it is the first thing that an employer evaluates (form and substance) before an applicant can even be pre-qualified for an interview.

I wouldn't use white out. But to use two different pens is okay as long as you have printed neatly. I recommend asking for 2 applications and using 1 as a "practice", then copy it on to the 2nd one.

I think it would make the person look unorganized and/or unsure of him or herself.
