acceptable for me just to find a job an apartment and move? Im the administrator of a highrise building and have been here 2 years, the reason he wants to fire me is his own problem he gave me a $700/week budget for employees other than myself to take care of a 50 year old building with 200 apartments oh yeah and somehow Im suppost to provide security. The other reason Im being fired is for refusal to perform illegal tasks. Anyways so he's asking I stay for some undisclosed amount of time I guess so he can replace me I feel like just up and moving this weekend and give he no notice likes he's trying to pull on me. Seam fair? Btw Ive previously quit he used to cry and beg for me to stay also I know with certainty when I leave he will loose massive money (he's the type of guy that will loose a dollar to gain a penny.

he filed unemployment, they denied it because his employer said he quit, he fought it, then his employer said he was fired, the unemployment called that "just cause"..how rediculous, he should fight it again, right?

I am attending school for Practical Nursing from July of 2008 until July of 2009. I plan on becoming an RN in the future, I just wanted to start out as an LPN to gain experience and because it would get me out into the work force quicker(due to course length obviously). After reading some of the answers to other LPN questions, it seems like a lot of people think becoming an LPN first is a waste of time. I even read a comment that said what you learn as an LPN is useless when you become an RN and you will have to basically learn your basic skills all over again. What are your opinions on this? I only want people to respond that would actually have an educated answer, not someone that is going to tell me to go right into an RN program due to them making more money and being able to do a lot more, as I am aware of those differences. Plus, I am not in a situation where I can devote at least 2 years to school right now.

Okay I'm helping my bf find another job, he's 23, he has been arrested twice. But it is done with all that stuff. He works now at Cross Creek a Restaurant. And is a cook and a cashier, and does just bout everything around there. What would be a good job for him in Jacksonville Florida? Also he only has a High School Diploma.

I have been working with my company for a little over a year. It's a great place but not in the area I studied. I don't necessarily want to leave but I found an offering for "the perfect job." I finally sent my resume and cover letter and I have a good shot at it. I respect my co-workers and I don't want to leave them high and dry, but I don't want to say I've applied for this new job, not get the offer then look like a jerk. Do I tell them now, wait for the interview or the offer before I pipe up?

Im in a pickle. When I first took my current job, my boss said will you come to me in 12 months and say I need more hours or your changing jobs. At the time I said no because I thought I would be able to support myself and get my own home business off the ground.
It didnt go as well as I hoped and now I need another job. Ive been in my current job 12 months and he is a really good boss as we seem to be on the same level. I waited till after xmas to tell him, now i have about 2 and a bit weeks till I start new job. The worst thing he said on Monday he going on holidays in the new year and he thinking of taking extra time off.
Oh Im going to hate this I just know it

I have been thinking about a career in nursing or physical therapy, but I'm not entirely certain whether or not I would be well suited for the job. I would prefer to be a teacher, but they just don't get paid as much as they deserve. Serious answers only please.

The last week at work before Christmas I had a cold, but I went to work every day regardless. It's now time to go back to work but I either have a new cold, or this one has just stuck with me.

I have a stinking headache, runny nose and a very irritating cough, but on the other hand I have a project to get finished ASAP. I'm a junior web dev and to finish the project I need my.. mentor (not sure what to call him) there to guide me - he usually works Mon-Wed in the office but I'm not sure if he's in tomorrow. I feel that if he is in, I've wasted precious time, but if he's not then there's nothing wasted.

I AM sick, I'm NOT hungover but I feel guilty about not being able to get work done.

What would you do in this situation? Phone in sick or spread the germs.

Ps. The only sick days I've had off were for an operation (signed off by doctor) in Jan and two days where I had to go home from migraines (I showed up for a couple of hours).

Im at a point in my life where I need to make a career choice instead of just a job choice. I love caring for all people, helping young mothers( I am one myself), talking on the phone, working on the computer. I have my Substitute Teacher Certificate, Early Childhood Education Credentials, Certified in CPR & First Aid, Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate, One Year of College completed, almost 9 months of childcare experience, I was a manager at Burger King, and a team leader at McDonalds. So I have a few things under my belt. I completed all by the age of 23. Im unhappy now because the only jobs that I can get with these Certificates pay anywhere between $7.00-$9.00 and I have twin 3 yr. olds to raise. Oh and I am a single mother if I didnt mention that. I want my daughters to have a good role model and I feel that I am not that yet b/c I dont have a good enough job. I want to find a career to pursue so that I will know what to go back to school for. Please help with!!!

I really don't get it. Many of the admin jobs are filled by women and many of them are overweight( alot) and the companies don't seem to care. Why?

Why they don't care for their employees''s health. Moreover these office workers are the first person that clients see. Its not presentable to have a super overweight person.

Whta's wrong with saying Hey we'll hire you but we'll give you some encouragement and maybe provide some Money as part of your benefits package to get in shape.
That's actually helping people, not hurting them.

I always see overweight administrative people that don't try to change and the companies dont care and moreover they keep eating junk food at work.

I have been an executive assistant at this company for a year. The company is not doing well and are about to go through a second round of lay-offs. They laid a lot of people off last year, and then I was hired interestingly enough. My boss said it was no reflection of my performance, and he is willing to give me a good reference. I'm only 21, and I'm going back to school next week actually, so I'll need to look for another job during this stressful time... Is this a big deal? Will this look bad to future employers (because I think this would be an important job to add to my resume), or do they view a lay-off just as they would view someone deciding to change jobs?

And also, am I supposed to apply for unemployment? How does all of this work?

I've been at a job for 3 months and will be moving out of state next week. I've only planned to give 1 week notice as I am a temp and the location will be closing within the next year. I work for a staffing company. I know I need to let my staffing co. know but I guess I should also say something to my supervisor at my actual place of work? Would you say something later today or early tomorrow? What would you do?

I have a bachelor degree in computer science and I am ITIL certified. The only sources I found that claim that certifications are useful to improve job conditions are edutacion related, so their opinion is biased.
Have any of you gotten a raise, promotion or a better job because you got certified on knowledge you already have?
I find that my experience is more valuable (and cheaper to get).

The people I know and admire for the way they have progress on their professional world don't even have a bachellor degree and today they hold Senior Management mositions. They actually do badly on a training environment.
