Im at a point in my life where I need to make a career choice instead of just a job choice. I love caring for all people, helping young mothers( I am one myself), talking on the phone, working on the computer. I have my Substitute Teacher Certificate, Early Childhood Education Credentials, Certified in CPR & First Aid, Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate, One Year of College completed, almost 9 months of childcare experience, I was a manager at Burger King, and a team leader at McDonalds. So I have a few things under my belt. I completed all by the age of 23. Im unhappy now because the only jobs that I can get with these Certificates pay anywhere between $7.00-$9.00 and I have twin 3 yr. olds to raise. Oh and I am a single mother if I didnt mention that. I want my daughters to have a good role model and I feel that I am not that yet b/c I dont have a good enough job. I want to find a career to pursue so that I will know what to go back to school for. Please help with!!!

i understand your situation very well, your experience includes Burger king, mcdonalds, so thats handling people, you have a skill for nursing (child care 9 months). i would suggest you to go for what you think you can do without getting tensed or turning out you hobby to work or may be something what you like to do, you may not have thats much money right now in that however if you are there at the right job which you love or its a hobby then you would never feel working hard, also you would perform excellent and you would get what you want, money, designation and an excllent reputation, and im saying all coz i just found out what i like doing and i switched my job which wasted all other 3 years ii spent working in some other skill which was not my passion, however i do see and understand ur situation very well that the need of finance to grow up your twins for a single mother "i respect that" , however see that you only work you like, may be in computers coz there u get good money and also u have computer skills, so no one else can decide for you except you. Find out what you love doing and then go for it study that, may nursing, may be computer, by learning computer you can also start your home business and all sort of stuff coz thats never out of business however you should decide....
i hope its helpful....please do let me know
thanks

Go to your local junior college and talk to an advisor. Find out if you can take an aptitude test which will give you some indication of what you would be good at and enjoy. Once you have done that, revisit you advisor and find out what careers use those skills and attributes you have, and if you need more schooling. Your advisor may be able to get you into an intern program right away based on your accomplishments, and you'll be well on your way. Good luck, and hug the kids. As long as you do your best, I'm sure you'll be a good mom.

I'd go back to school and become a Registered Nurse. That commands decent pay and you only need an Associates Degree in most states to become a RN.

You are more than qualified to operate and manage a child care facility. I'd check local business ads for such a position. You do not have to retrain yourself in another occupation which takes too much time to complete academically speaking.

Good luck!

You could always go back to school and become a nurse. It pays good and they're always in need everywhere.
