I am almost 15 years old, and I want to get a job. My parents have given me permission and we are currently filling out the correct permission forms etc. however I am not quite sure where I can apply. I will do almost anything except babysitting (I'm not good with kids). Does anyone have some suggestions?

My parents are broke, they don't give me an allowance. What is the problem with a straight A student working?

I completely disagree with Mike G. I think wanting to work shows responsibility and a willingness to learn how to handle money, something very few teens know anything about. As long as you're smart, exercise good judgment, and don't work excessive hours you'll be fine. It's nice to see a teen is willing to work instead of demanding allowance from already strapped parents. That kind of maturity goes a long way.

Consider fast food, retail, grocery stores, pet shops, restaurants, etc. You'll do fine so long as you work hard and continue to keep your grades up.

Good luck!

If you know someone with a business, ask if they would hire you. I use to have a restaurant and I hired a few dishwashers at 15 if they were reliable. My granddaughter started waitressing at 15 under a good restaurant manager who looked out for her and trained her well. Most people with small businesses realize it is the person they hire, not a certain age.

Enjoy your youth. You don't need to work at this age. Aren't your grades going to suffer because you will be working. You'll be working all your life. Your parents are not thinking, allowing you to work. Tell them just to up your allowance a bit.
