i have been out sick this week from my part time job and have missed several times before too. anyway i called in this morning and told my boss i'm not 100% yet and he said ok. then i asked him if i was ok there and he asked me ok where? i told him if i still had a job there and after a long pause( which worried me) he told me that we would sit down tomorrow and talk about it. he then told me that i was part time and told me not to sweat it. i then told him that if i missed anymore he could fire me if he wanted to. he then told me again that we would talk about it tomorrow. what do you all think? is he going to fire me or just give me a stern warning tomorrow? he did say that i was part time and not to sweat it.

Im a stay at home mom and we only have 1 car and no money for a baby sitter so my only real option would be to work from home. Im a good typer, around 60 words a minute. Nothing fancy. I would love a job where I could be an at home typist for someone or a company or something but Im not willing to send my money to someone to start you know. Does anyone have any suggestions or know anyone with a home typing job that's legit and not a scam?

I am a candidate for a job. I was told that it is down to three people for two jobs, and I am one of the three. He told me to call him yesterday for an answer. I called and got his voicemail and left a message. He never returned the call. Should I just wait to hear from him or call him back or email him? I want him to know that I am aggressive and hungry, but don't want to be a pest. What should I do?

I recently started working at ingles, and after working for about a week they told me it is mandatory to have direct deposit. i informed them that I don't have a bank account. They told me it doesn't matter- I have to get one. The problem with that is when I was married my husband ruined my Suntrust account and I haven't been able to pay it off... (we are getting a divorce this month and he will be accepting some of the balance)
My question is- how can they make it mandatory to have a bank account to have a job??? and any suggestions on what I should do? I am trying to get a bank of america cashpay card and hopefully they can use that... if not looks like they have to find a new employee- what a bunch of crap...

I currently live in Atlanta, GA. Even though the city is rapidly growing and the cost of living is going up; people's incomes are not, unfortunately. I have been out of college since 2004 and have recently been in search of a position that will pay me a minimum of $30,000; $40,000 is preferred. This has been the most difficult thing ever. Companies honestly only want to pay between $23,000 and $28,000. Any suggestions as to what I can do to find the position that I want. I do plan on going back to grad school, but would like a little money in my pocket to take care of expenses. Anything under $30,000 is not going to do that. Help!

I got a new job (much better one) and I start this week. I want to quit my old job, but I'm afraid that if I quit without giving proper notice, that my former employer won't give me my paycheck. If I go in and quit today, can I still get my pay check in a couple days.

I've broken my leg and so can't work because I can't stand up for long which my job involves. I wanna leave that joint and go somewhere else, and I've been offered and interview next week. I don't think I'll be back at work.

Do you think it's ok to go for an interview, it's not as if I'm sick because I'm fine in myself, but I can't do my job, but would be able to sit down and talk!

I want to get a good job in information technology. I already have a liberal arts bachelor's degree and an A.A. degree. I also have A+ certification, and am confident that if I study for the other tests like Network+ and MCSE that I can pass them. I currently have a tech position fixing computers so that I can build up my resume, but it is not what I would consider a well-paying job, especially when you compare it to other tech jobs. Do I need to go back to school to get a C.S. degree so that I can get a "real" job in the tech industry?

I just recently got an offer for a job that I applied for. Everything sounds really good except I feel that they "low-balled" me on the salary. I went through a series of interviews in which they gave me a range of salary that I would make, which was $36k - $40k. Now they originally told me that they would definitely want me to make a little more than I previously did at my old job which was $36k, so I would probably make $38k. This was fine with me, although I was looking in the $40k range. Now, when the boss called me she said she was calling to negotiate salary and to give me the details on everything. She asked me how much I made before, which was $36k, and then said they would start me at $36k and I would be elligible to receive possible raises of 3% every six months until I reach median range salary, which is $44k. I was told to think about everything over night and give a call to her tommorrow. I was just wondering if I should ask for $38k and how I should say it

I have already changed my career three times and I feel like such a flake. I have made some poor choices in the past in terms of career moves and I wonder not only if I am too old, but also if my track record of changing careers will count against me.

Don't get me wrong, I have excelled at every job I have ever had, even awarded at several. I have even worked in several different types of jobs in several different countries but I have never been particularly happy at any of the jobs I have had. Even as of today, I feel like I just want a regular job that makes a lot of money so I can simply pay my bills and take care of my family. Not very altruistic but I am just being honest. What is a confused, middle aged man to do?

it just bothers me how you always hear there's a nursing shortage problem. and being college bound i plan to take up nursing. then you're informed that the nursing program at the school you're planning to attend is impacted.

and its not only one specific school but most schools in california. i know there are a multitude of problems our society faces but healthcare should be a major priority. in major cities like Los Angeles and Long Beach, shouldnt they put an emphasis on healthcare and try to combat teh nursing shortage by expanding teh nursing programs?

your thoughts?

I believe I am about to be asked to work with a disruptive troublemaker on an important project. This individual has regularly threatened supervisors but has been somewhat protected by the manager. I think by failing to take the proper actions years ago he has now dug himself a hole and it is more difficult to get rid of her.
He says he will "read her the riot act" prior to any new activities. But past experience has shown that ultimately the individual she upset and/or threatened with labour or legal action, is asked to find a way to make it work and warned to not lose their cool.
My concern is by being forced to work with her I may be putting myself in a vulnerable position and risk losing my cool.
Can I refuse claiming it is "unsafe work" because my health and welfare is at risk because she has a record of bullying and threats with no substansive discipline?
I live in Canada.

My manager works literally 24/7. She constantly sends work emails late at night and on weekends, and asks for help frequently. It'd be ok if it was occasional as sometimes you have due dates and work needs to get done but this is getting out of control. I received a 360 feedback invite from her and would like to give her a constructive feedback. I would appreciate any suggestions regarding appropriate way of telling her. Thanks.
