I received my paystubs and it shows that my employer has deducted time I have worked while clocked in to keep me under 40 hours. (ie:) I clock in at 9am till 5:42pm and next to it it says that it was modified to 9am-5:30pm although i worked till 5:42pm. is this legal?

I want a resume that's believable. I have the experience but not the present work history.

I'm working on a 3 month contract and only a week to go. I haven't liked my job for a few weeks and displayed it in a negative way by not caring much and arriving up to 1 hour late in the morning. Should I quit or just work the extra week.

I'm also leaving the country after this job so it is causing the experience in this country to be soured. I barely enjoy a minute of work during the day.

Today I got a warning about lateness and using the internet too much, even though only a week go to.

It is a fairly well-paid job.

A friend has an office job. She also has mulitple sclerosis. She has been told at work that if she is not 100 percent then she is not aloud to come to work. Also she has been told that if she takes any type of pain medication then they dont want her working either. For those of you that are familiar with ms, you know that being 100 percent never happens, and in many cases a person with ms must take pain meds on a daily basis to even function. as far as I know they have not told the rest of there workforce these same requirements. Before they found out she has ms they never said a word if she was not at what they felt was 100 percent. If you know anything about workplace discrimination please let me know

I know my secretary doesn't want me as her assignment and recently I have noticed a few things she has done which show that I cannot trust her. I am not sure if she is trying to get rid of me or trying to get re-assigned. She is also best friends with the office manager so I can't go that route.

I have a passion for arts such as painting. But being practical that money comes more from doing business,I studied Business Administration. But somehow I realized I wanted to do something and express myself creatively in a job that unfortunately are applicable and qualified only for those who had a degree in Fine Arts. I don't have any plans to take a second course of another 4 years in College to pursue Fine Arts. But I feel that I wanted to be involved into a career that may not be financially rewarding but is enjoyable and is into the arts.Is there any job opportunities for a business grad like me that is related into Fine Arts?

I think my ex employer who is actually the Government is providing any prospective employer with inaccurate information in their references. I have asked them to let me see what they are saying about me but they refuse.

Can I demand to see using for example Data Protection Act as they are disclosing things about me without my knowledge/agreement to a third party?

I have been in the technical industry for five years mostly as an independent consultant. I have been abruptly laid off and have been looking for work. One of my references has died recently and the other has retired. I have other references, but they aren't what the headhunters want. Is there a way to "cheat" here? Like pay someone to provide a reference? I don't want to have to do this, but I am suddenly broke and very desperate.

I've started a temping booking (as a medical secretary) in a private hospital working for 3 doctors. They want me to use my personal mobile phone so they can text me with queries, etc and for me to text them back. The thing is, I've been offered no money for these calls/texts I have to make to them. Are they taking advantage of me and is this legal in the workplace for me to do this on my personal phone? I don't know why they just can't contact me on the office phone or by email.

I joined the company in March 2007 and the company has the policy of doing a salary review for everyone in September 2007 and prorating the increase for new hires based on number of months they have worked before September.

My manager informed me that I was able to get a 4% increase. However, since I have been in the company only for 6 months, the % will be prorated and I will be getting a 2% increase. The next review will be in September 2008.

Though initially this logic made complete sense, on 2nd thoughts, I feel that it's flawed. Why am I being offered only 2% raise for the next 1 year even though my annual increase should be 4%.

Any thoughts on this?

Thanks

He has worked for the same company for 21 years in a good paying but very labor intensive position as a machine operator. He was asked to apply for a salaried position of first line supervisor and got the job. he has 60 days to try the job with the ability to go back to his old job within the 60 days if he chooses.
He has only a couple of weeks more to make up his mind. Some of the folks in the salary ranks love it and others say the company is piling more work and taking away benefits. Some say they are fine, and others say the stress is killing them. My husband does not handle stress well and is a very methodical thinker. He knows he can do the job well, but does not like the job or the constant headaches it brings. He is experiencing anxiety and doesn't know if it's just the decision or the job.
Money wise the new job is better, but we are ok with money either way because his operators job pays ok, too- new job less days but higher salary.
Thanks!
