Who knows?

When I was deciding on a career I was told in no uncertain terms that learning to write software would almost guarantee wild success.

While I can't complain in that I have remained gainfully employed for the most part and enjoy an above average salary, the reality of the overall industry is that software engineering has become a commodity profession. The tools have become good enough that any high school kid can do a decent job of programming these days.

Those who have been in the business awhile are keenly aware that there is no such thing as job security in this profession and for every programming job there are a dozen people with freshly minted degrees out there who will do it for half of what someone with a wife, two kids, and a mortgage can work for. Additionally, they don't whine about flying out to East BF at the drop of a hat.

So... the moral to this diatribe is: You should pick a profession based on what you enjoy doing rather than what is likely to be the next big thing. Even if it is the next big thing, like any other boom industry after a few years a few large players will emerge, crush most of the competition, and turn the work force into as close to sweat shop labor as they can get away with.

Marketing and advertising seem to have longevity. If you make it to executive level, you'll definitely have a rather nice salary.
Law enforcement is a great field, especially when it comes to job security and benefits.
Information Systems is a field that continues to grow, but you have to be able to adapt to the constant changes. You never stop learning in the I.T. fields.
Gotta find what's good for you, do some research, and hopefully your future wil be bright. :)

There are many good opportunities in this country; however, if you want to be financially free, you need to be in the right business. The two main things when considering any opportunity is market timing and product….you can find this kind of opportunity through Multi-level or network marketing companies….I have been involved in many and made a fortune because I got in at the RIGHT TIME with the RIGHT PRODUCT….the next up and coming money maker is health and weightloss in that it is the biggest industry in the US right now….check out this site

That's why I went to school for teaching...but they're closing schools and laying off (public school!) teachers where I live.
There are no guarantees. Pray about it. But I found there will always be a demand for nurses and truck drivers. (Sadly, with NAFTA, the illegal immigrants are taking over trucking jobs too now...)

People are living longer. So that means, they will need to be taken care of. The health field in any form, need to concentrate on Geriatrics.
And, look around us, the software industry is in every facet of our lives.... Slowly already replacting humans....the true Jetsons have arrive.
