My father knows a person who gave me his contact info at a big financial company. Question is do I sent him a generic cover letter saying thank you and telling him that he gave my father his name etc... Or do I send a cover letter but without specifying a position. I just list my skills and abilities and hope he finds a match. thank you

Would anyone of you expect actually higher salary for working company like Starbucks?

Yes, they offer excellent health insurance for part-time workers who work at least 20 h/week, but I am not sure if I will work there more than 1 month, unless I worked at another location closer to my school. So benefits does not much concern me .

Just Curious if anyone has had a problem with going on vacation overseas to visit their family when they submitted their request to their employer and if so what did you do? Did you appeal the denial?

we started talking about overtime. I said that I would enjoy my job more if I was not required to work as much overtime (being that I am not getting paid as I am exempt). Their opinion was that as a “Professional” I am expected to work overtime. How do you feel about this? Do you agree with my coworkers? Can you label anyone as a “Professional” and expect them to work overtime regardless of their salary?

I started working at Wendy's as a crew member when I was 14.
I am still under 18, and I can not become a manager there. I have been at Wendy's for a long time now, and it seems like it will be forever until I turn 18.

Does anybody know of any restaurants (for chains, my ZIP is 49024) that have a step above an entry level crew position where you don't have to be 18?
It doesn't have to be a manager. Maybe a trainer or some sort of supervisor.

Thanks!

Hello,
I'm interested in a career in the pharmaceutical industry, but I'm already a college student and a biology major. I do not want to change schools or majors, and I do not want to become a full-fledged pharmacist (too much school, haha). I was wondering what kind of training I would need in order to do something involving pharmacy. I think a bachelor's in biology will help me alot, but I want to concentrate on this area mostly.

Does anyone have any advice?

Hi, I'd appreciate any feedback...I'm thinking of moving out to this area and I'm wondering what the job prospects are for a college graduate, not in business or scientific fields, looking for an entry-level position. Which areas of these states are prosperous and which should be avoided? Thanks!

I have an interview with a small animal hospital in my home town here in Lexington, Kentucky. I am sure I will be asked about what I am expected to be paid, but I honestly have no clue. I am currently making $9.25 as an office manager for a small construction contracting office. After reading descriptions of the job and considering it may include working as a receptionist/clerical help, I would figure definately more than minimum wage. For just a receptionist in my area I see offers of $9-$10 and even more. Any advice on where I should start?

Don't bother if you're just going to tell me what website I should look at....been there, done that.

I had a very excellent recruitment agency tell me that I've been temping for too long! (I'm a medical secretary). I now want to move on from this onto something more permanent now. I've loved temping, but it sounds like my temping is a 'turn off' to future employers. How do I word 13 years on a CV?

I gave my notice of resignation at my current employment. I put a specified end date, but being so disgruntled about my work, I do not want to come in anymore and just quit now. I was already offered a job that I really want, and specified my new start date with the new company (of course I accepted the job). So I already have the new job set in place. Can I quit my current employment (even though I specified a date to end)? It is an "at will" employment. So I can quit anytime for any reason. I need help please. I'm so dissatisfied with my current job that its severely worrying me, causing distress, and affecting my day to day habits (maybe its because I'm getting projects that was handed down to me by people who quit too and havent kept track of their project references and files!)

help please!

i just got a job at an ice cream parlor and ive been working 6 hours but im worried that they will want me to work 8 hour shifts which seems to be the regular. do you think i should be able to work 6 hours without being pressured to do more? im only 16 and so far 6 hours is pretty tough once the 5th hour is done.

How do you tell your boss that you are finally resigning after 5yrs with the company? Need suggestions, letter, speaking to the boss?
I don't want to burn my bridges.
My boss and our family are close, but he has no clue that I went for another job interview and I just got the phone call today to start the new job! WOOHOO
My boss will either say "go home" or "how could you do this to me", or "you trader" I really don't know how to handle this.
I was his backbone at work.
How do I go about telling him?
