It's almost the right of upward movement in a company and it drives me crazy. I work hard and will only stop and do something else (like writing this reply!) when all of my own work is done. I therefore hate it when I watch others slack off and then give me something at 4pm that they "didn't have time to do" even though they had it at 8am. You can only remember this and keep it in mind should you ever be the boss of someone else.

I get that a lot. I have learned to ask "is it ok if I get this to you by 10am tomorrow?"

Basically, I sat down with my boss and said, I know your time is valuable and you have a lot going on. Some days you're so busy that you come to me at the end of a day with a lot of work. Some days it isn't a problem for me to stay late and take care of it, but there are also days when I can't. If you could try to get those sorts of projects to me earlier in the day I can have them for you before I leave. If you can't get it to me until fifteen minutes before the end of my day, perhaps we can discuss when you need it by, so I can come in the next day and make it my first priority.

When you address it like that, bosses tend to be very receptive. I've had success with it. Good luck!

If they aren't owners of the business, try complain to their bosses. Otherwise, transfer to another department if you can. I did that and have no regrets. Any time the lazy person's name comes up I make it clear to other managers that this person would make a lousy team member.

Been there!!..all you can do is grin and bear it....show that you are a professional and don't let your annoyance show!! If it happens all the time, I'd arrange to meet with their manager in a closed door setting and explain why you are unhappy..it's about all you can do right now........

I guess I'm lucky in that I don't have that problem. Sounds to me like you need to find a new boss. The ones you have obviously don't respect you.
