I need to find a job and need suggestions as to good places to work. I want to work in retail but no one is hiring and I feel weird asking for an application when a place isn't hiring should i just go and ask?

Lots of the bigger retail places have kiosks that you can fill out applications without talking to anyone.

If you really need/want a job then you should take just about whatever is offered in the retail position you want. Once you have a job you can keep looking.

Go to your local mall and ask at the stores there. Call your local job service bureau. Look at the want ads in the newspaper (no need to buy, go to the library). Ask your friends if they know any place that's hiring. Look online for your state/city.

My suggestion is to take some classes on computers, managment or marketing...you need to stand out above the rest qualification wise, there used too a time when you were over qualified, not anymore, takes some classes.
Don't be shy about asking for an application, your persona could be the difference when asking for a application.

it doesn't really matter if the place isn't actively hiring and you'll never know for sure unless you ask. even if there isn't a need for extra staff you can always fill out an application and ask them to contact you if something comes up.

Don't be afraid to ask - employers like people with initiative and will be happy that you chose them. Good Luck.
