Hi, I'd appreciate any feedback...I'm thinking of moving out to this area and I'm wondering what the job prospects are for a college graduate, not in business or scientific fields, looking for an entry-level position. Which areas of these states are prosperous and which should be avoided? Thanks!

You said NOT business or scientific. What field ARE you looking to get an entry-level job in?

The hospitality industry is strong in the midwest. You might try John Q. Hammons hotels (based in Springfield, MO). They run a collection of upscale hotels (Embassy Suites, Clarion, etc) across the midwest.

Des Moines and Columbia MO have a lot of companies that are hiring. The economy is soft, but it's still growing in those two places.

According to CNN Iowa has the 16th highest unemployment rate, and Missouri is 37th highest rate. I'd Missouri is the way better bet in that respect. Here is the link to the rankings on CNN's site. Good luck!
