My husband thinks he should stay in construction he has been out of work for several months, there is no work in our area. Construction work is always seasonal. I want to work, but I am seven months along and no one will hire me. I suggest to him get a trucking job or some thing that can help get him out of this area. He has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, but he does not know how to deal with people well enough to get hired at well paying job and he does not like my suggestions and we are running out of resources we have to do something quickly, but what do you do with a husband that refuses to try doing anything else?

I have been reading stories of college graduates who have degrees but cannot start work in their majors, but switched to different careers. Are there any one who changed careers and majors after receiving a Bachelors Degree ?

My husband has been seeking new employment and on most every interview they seem to be suprised that he would prefer to give his current employer a two-week notice when asked how quickly he could start. This seems to be a deciding factor with most of the interviewers. Has this common courtesy gone by the wayside?

I am going away to college in another state this year and part of my requirements for graduation are several internships. My major is in government so I know that internships will be very competitive. I work at a pharmacy now and I was wondering if it was ok to ask my manager and pharmacists for general letters of recommendation when I leave for college. Or should I wait until I actually apply for an internship next year, and then call them? I'm afraid that after a year they might not want to go to the trouble of writing out a strong letter of recommendation. But I know that I will always be able to use their names as references. :) Thanks!

I am a recent college graduate and just got offered an awesome job and was wondering if previous employment is included on background checks. I held SEVERAL summer jobs some which I actually forgot about. Well I filled out this form and sent it out then remembered some other places that I worked. I am unable to go back to correct this information and am simply wondering if past employment is included or do they simply check the references i provided on my resume.

I was wondering if this was possible? My mother told me that it would be easier if I take RN first, get a job, and then get an MD. My number one goal is to become a doctor. But it takes about 10 years and during those ten years I would like to work. So, I would like to pursue an education first in nursing so I can work while studying medicine. Is this possible?

I am looking for my first "real job" after graduating college with a degree in Biology. I graduated in December 2005 worked for six months at a job I decided I didnt like and then went to Europe to travel for a few months. I have now been back and actively seeking a job for about three months. I am broke and bored! I am wondering how long people typically spend looking for their first job. Should I continue to hold out for a job that I think may turn into a good career or should I just take what I can get for now and continue searching while I am employeed somewhere?

I recently obtained a full time employment as a file clerk. I work regular hours 8-5.
Are there any tricks not to be so tired after work?
I come home and I sit and stare into space for hours.
I get so tired I can hardly walk or talk.
Anything wrong with me?

What is the average income in your society if you know? Do you have to look after family as well with this money each month?
Thanks. I'm earning £17K as a trainee, and soon will be increased and just have to look after myself.

I just wrote that this is my formal letter of resignation and the effective date, and thanking them for the oppurturnity. Only being 2 or so sentences, is that enough or does it have to be lengthier and including a reason why?
