My husband thinks he should stay in construction he has been out of work for several months, there is no work in our area. Construction work is always seasonal. I want to work, but I am seven months along and no one will hire me. I suggest to him get a trucking job or some thing that can help get him out of this area. He has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, but he does not know how to deal with people well enough to get hired at well paying job and he does not like my suggestions and we are running out of resources we have to do something quickly, but what do you do with a husband that refuses to try doing anything else?

I'd get a temp job if I were you.

Then I would go to marriage counseling. If he won't go, go by yourself. His not being able to deal with people may mean that he is depressed, has anxiety or something. I don't think it's "normal" to not want to care for your family, so it sounds to me like he's "off" somehow, going to a counselor will help you understand him better. Being married is a partnership, and it doesn't seem that he is holding up his end of the partnership. You shouldn't have to nag him to bring home the bacon, especially when you could have a baby in the next month or two. But you can do what you can do, which is find something temporary.

In the mean time, if you haven't already, turn off all the cable and anything excess in the house, and sell his tools to make money (he's not using them). You may even want to sell his truck.
