does anyone know if my employer can do this , i am due to return to work later this month has a receptionist at a well know hotel after having a year off due to having a baby , i went to discuss my new rota and they have told me has well has doing my normal job , i will also have to do the cleaining in the rooms where the guest stay , they said that everyone who works on the front desk does this also, what im trying to say is i was employed has a receptionist and not a cleaner !

How would you handle recommendations for a job opening especially if it was from a fellow employee? Giving it special treatment would create a biased decision. No matter if it was from the VP or another manager, i believe applicants should be handled the same way regardless of their source. Right?

I was wondering , in regard to day or night shifts, how many prefer one over the other. I am thinking about changing shifts with this new position I have applied for and have always worked days. I like days for the fact that I get to sleep with the rest of my family but working nights is a different world, a USUALLY much milder pace. PLEASE note that I said USUALLY!!!

I was terminated from my job 3 weeks ago and i filed for unemployment online. When i finally recieved a letter from unemployment last saturday it said it was denied because i did not make enough money during the quarter of jul-sep. However i noticed they only listed 2 places were i have worked for the past 18mos. Not the last place i worked at. So i spoke with my boyfriend he said that the same thing happened to him and he to refile his claim and get a letter of termination from his last employer, but they jerked him around about it so he gave up. However, i wont give up because i have emailed the HR dept several times about this document but no response. However i do have letters of termination of my benefits and i have emails and documents about my hire date. I dont know if that would be sufficient enough. I tried to call the unemployment office but all i got was an automated service about the documents i need like ID's and past employment in the last 18mos. I plan on going

My best friend is a store manager for (a shoe store company),has been for 14 years.The store she was kinda forced to take over was newly opened 2 years ago.She is a store manager and also supervises the old store she was in charge of.Now the lease for her new store is over and they can't renew it because the owner of the strip leased the store to another company.There is no room for my friend at the other 4 stores nearby she was told,so she is going to be unemployed soon.The bad thing is,she doesn't know when her last day is.Can she ask to be put in a store with same pay rate,can she really be unemployed? What can she do to keep her pay.If she finds a new job there is no guarantee she will get same pay,plus she loves working for this company.

If you take a job because you have been unemployed for a month and you need money. This is the first job that comes along. However it is extremely boring. If you start getting people calling you for interviews 3 weeks after you get the job, should you quit the job and take a chance on the interviews? (you can't take time off for the interviews)
