There's give and take to both. I've worked as a marketing officer and in management. My degree is in Business Mgt. The financial payoff is better in management, however, marketing was a lot of fun to do. There are a lot of CEOs coming out of the marketing ranks now, but business will still give you the inside track.

The question is really "what are your interests". In the short term a marketing major will likely prepare you for a good entry level job and you can then build on that over the years. A business Management major is good if you want to be a manager and run a business operation. If you already work this may be very helpful to get you to advance your career. Marketing will get you into a business discipline and there you can advance into marketing management and later maybe business management. Business Management is more general and since it does not prepare you for entry level jobs may in the beginning make it more difficult to fins a entry level position
