If you are 28 years old, college educated, been working in finance for 3-4 years and if for some reason you got laid off should you immediately apply for unemployment? The underlying assumption is that your family can't help you out but you have at least 6 months of savings in the bank. Also you intend to try hard to start looking for a job the day you get laid off. Thanks.

I have no clue about a career anymore. Can someone please give me some guidance? How did you figure out what you wanted to be? i want to go to school for a "specialized" degree instead of something that's extremely broad. I don't know... Please help me! I'm lost... even a little guidance would be nice.

How hard is the school work for getting your degree? How many years (I'm getting 4 years, 6 years, etc.) Is there a final test to become certified? How much math and how much chemistry? What types of classes are there (specifically)? What college have you gone to / are attending? How would you rate that school in difficulty?

What do you do on a daily basis? How much of the information do you actually have to retain when you start working as a pharmacist? What kind of tasks do you perform? Do you just mix medications / supply medications?

I am an executive in the only company I have ever worked for (14 years) so I have never had to look for a job. My wife suggests a Head Hunter (mainly because she worked with one that specialized in her field). I have heard bad things from just about every other source I know that has used one. What is the general feelings on them? Do they help you with resumes and such things?

I know you have to be fired and not resign, but where do you go to file it, how do they determine how much they will give you on a monthly basis, and how long does that last for? after how many days per week will they stop it, like if you get a part-time job, let's say 3 days a week, will they stop it?

I've been trying to get work in the props or art dept within the Tv and Film Industry for over 5 years now. I have a fine Art degree and have been a pro photographer, I've gone through all the usuall channels, Offered to volunteer etc... There is always something against me. I'm 31 now and feel extremely frustrated at not getting anywhere... I'm beginning to think it is who you know. I'm trying to branch out with screen writing and have a great Idea for a tv drama - but not too sure how to go about it - like who to approach who to trust etc...
The other problem that is really getting me down is opportunities for ethnic minorities within the industry. I understand the whole positive discrimination thing ; But what happened to talent getting you the job or training scheme -and not origins or skin colour.
My hands are tied with this situation and as a white working class man from a northern town I have to say that the country is failing people like me. Any advise? Suggestions? - Sensible

What have you given up on in your life? Have you regretted doing so? Be it school, a job, a relationship, a dream, hope, love, marriage etc.

I want to be a pharmacist. It's the only thing in my heart that I would really want to do. The school is ALL chemistry to get the Pharm degree. My problem is that while I got an A in chemistry when I was in high school, I'm failing it in college. The biggest issue that's causing me to fail is, and I'm not just blaming it on him, but my teacher. He's a foreigner and doesn't speak / teach in English well, but is a very nice man. Anyway, if I can't get past general chemistry, I might as well forget about being a pharmacist. I just want to give up. I know I shouldn't let anyone get in the way of my dreams and that I should just get a tutor, but I feel so down and just want to give up.

Who else feels the same?
