I have worked for a hospital in California for 3 years and I have 8 years of experience in my field. I just learned that new employees with less experience are being hired on for more pay than employees who have been with the hospital several years with more experience. We both do nearly the same job (the old employees have to take the time to train the newbies) and some of the old employees actually hold a higher position (team leading, supervising) and still get paid less than a new grad. My fellow employees and I are really upset and are trying to figure out how to best handle this. Does anyone know if this is illegal? How would you approach it? I cant quit right now because I am pregnant and I need the benefits for my family. Thanks.

On Friday morning i took my notice in to my Employer and said i wanted to finish (but would not work my weeks notice) and walked out.

(Background info :-)

I have worked there 5 years but have found the work very stressful due to a fast paced environment making car mirrors at a rate of 4-500 per hour and looking for defects as big as pin-heads.

1. Due to not working a weeks notice can they hold back any money the owe me.

2. I have been one of the best time keepers have picked up the tasks required ok (but speed/quality as not been in my favour)
should i ask for a reference.

3. Going to sign on at job centre (wife and 4 years old to consider)
will i have my job seekers allowance stopped if so how long?

** Final point we discussed the matter in great detail (wife/myself)
about getting out of the company and finding new employment
so i will be trying to get a new job A.S.A.P

I'll make it as short as possible here. Please provide some advice on what to do.

I thought I really liked drawing and designing, so I join a group of people (around 20) which are already part of an organised club (funded by an affiliated company) to learn more about things related to that. They spend a lot of effort and some money to recruit similar people like me and I went through an interview and made a few acquaintances there too.

But later, I realise I'm not really getting to learn what I want to in the first place, and I take more than 3 hours to travel on public transport back and forth each week, which is tiring and long.

Should I continue with it? If not, how should I withdraw myself without offending the people there? (Because my main reason is I don't really get what they are trying to do there and I feel that sometimes I'm wasting my time, which is awful)

Thanks.

One of our cashiers messed inventory control, sales for 9/21, and sales for 10/21. Tech support says he has no idea how to fix it and he wrote the program. I've been working on it for 2 days.

I have a window overlooking the cubicle, but no actual direct sunlight. Just the flourescents. I was thinking of heading out to a local store and buying a cheap lamp to brighten up my office. It is not a lack of sleep or anything like that.

Anyone ever have a problem like this before?

I'm 25, about to have a baby in March. I want to stay home and have about 5 or 6 little kids to watch in my home. I dont want to go back to work. I want to work for myself and start my own business. I know that you have to have a little certificate for the go ahead. I got that covered. It's not a actual daycare. It's more of a babysitting service. I want to start little, and work up. What do you think?
