How do I get into event planning, specifically wedding planning or working in events at a nice resort? I have a college degree in communication, but I don't know if that helps me right now. Where do I start? Do I have to go back to hourly jobs at a front desk or as a hostess or something and work my way up?

I've been at my current job for 8 years, the one before that for 3 years and the one before that 3 years. Do you think that would be sufficient?

Good afternoon all. I was just wondering if there are any accountants out there that could give me insight into the world of accounting. I am currently a senior majoring in accounting with a minor in MIS. I'm working as a corporate tax intern for the summer with a fairly large corporation (NYSE listed).

How much of a leg up will I be if I can manage to get a job with one of the Big 4 firms, how do I go about putting myself in a position to land a Big 4 job, what kind of accounting interests you, what fields are most likely to pay well with experience?

I know it's a pretty broad question, but I'm just looking for insights and experiences from accountants outside of my office. Thanks

Do they mean 'no phone calls' as in, no inquiries, or as in, no follow-ups? I took it to mean "no follow-up calls" and I have been getting no interviews even though I have sent in a lot of applications. I think I am doing something wrong.

I'm having a problem with my personnel file.
I'm being repremanded at work for days I've missed due to a disability. I asked for a copy of my personnel file, and while they have the letter of discipline in there, they do not have my signed slips for sick days or vacation days coinciding with the letter.
Also, last year because of the discovery of my disability, I was offered and took 6 weeks of short term disability. There is NO record of this whatsoever in the file. Is there any action I can take? I just want my boss off my back over missing days that they don't even have slips signed by me for.

I know there are different strategies for a response but I am interested in how YOU handle the question in an interview.

A recent job offer came with stock options as part of the incentive package. What does this mean if the "start-up" intends to sell the company in about 5 years? Could this be lucrative for me?

Please read and then let me know what I should do. I applied for a job that I REALLY want about 2 months ago. Since then I have had 4interviews for this job. After the first 3 interviews, the HR person called me, telling me I basically had the job...I was the one they were interested in, but that the hiring manager was leaving for vacation for a week and when he got back (today) they would iron out the details. Then, a few days later, the HR lady called me again, sort of acting like the previous phone call never happened and telling me I needed to do one more interview. I did that, and it seemed like it went pretty well. That was last Wednesday. So today the day I was expecting to hear that I got the job, the HR lady calls me again and says they are basically moving forward with me and beginning the background check. I feel like I get mixed signals from the HR lady. This job involves relocating-should I call the guy who may be my boss and let him know we need to movie forward ASAP?

its like this, there was a breach of procedure. being the boss i should've known better but far worse things have happened in other stores run by this company and nothing has been done.
i have an exemplary record, the store is beating budget week in week out and im well liked, respected by both staff and community.

sorry if im being a little vague.
