I have decided to cash in one of my life insurance policies. When I filled out the form they asked did I want the taxes taken out then or later. I chose for them to go ahead and take them out. Now my mom is tellin me that they will still take out more taxes come tax time b/c it is considered income. I just want to make sure this is correct..

i had a bank account forceably closed, but i still had my direct deposits going into the account. i told payroll that i needed my actual paychecks, but they said it'd be 2 weeks before the system recognized it, so 2 weekly paychecks still went in, after the account was closed. i called the bank manager and asked him if he had recieved the monies, and he initially denied it, then conveniently found the record of the payment being recieved. he said that they were accepted as payment on the closed account, but last i checked, banks can't tell you what to pay with your money, or accept money for an account that has been closed. i mean, where would the money go if the account didn't exist due to closure? i don't get it.....also, the ending balance of the account and the amount from the collection agency is the same, so there is no 'credit' to my account. what can i do?

I bought $700 worth of clothes and shoes because I got a new job and needed business attire which I didn't have at all. Can I get my money back for those purchases? Also, this new job is about 1 hour from were I live and since I've been working there, I've been spending twice if not three times as much on gas. I've been saving my reciepts, can I claim gas as a business expense as well?

Well I just came back from the orientation... I have to go in 3 days of this week for training. I AM REALLY NERVOUS.

My position is a line cook, basically making all the sandwiches and salads... she gave me 2 booklets of food items that I should get familiar with. This is like my first time doing a job like this... I AM SO SCARED that I might screw up. How do cooks memorize 20+ items??? I don't know how I'm going to do it... (I'm starting to think more realistic).

I start tomorrow... but now my nervous thoughts are getting to me and I feel like I don't want to work there, even though I really need the money... I don't know what I should do!!!

I was recently sent a collection notice for not paying for a class that I never even signed up for. Is there anything that I can do to fight collections on this? Do I need to contact the company that filed with collections for not receiving payment from me?

While I am very good at what I do and have outstanding performance reviews, my last supervisor and I parted on bad terms ending with me filing a grievance. I am now staying home until my kids are older, but worry about what interviews/resumes/ references will be like when I do decide to reenter the workforce? Is there a way to get around having to include my last boss as a reference?

I have had the bank for 6 months now, I've only had about 100 dollars in it, all of which was legal money. They have never had any reason to suspect, but when the send in my name to the IRS, the IRS will "bounce" my name.

I have a debt that had a last payment on Dec '00. It is now almost 7 years since this time and debt collector called & argued several points. I understand the morality of paying the debt, but the SoL keeps them off my back after 7.5 years, correct?
I mentioned to him that I am can't pay on the account now, but if certain things fell into place soon I might be able to work something out. I understand the time frame resets once a payment has been made, so I have not done that, though they were desperate to get a $50 good-faith payment. Having stated this possible intent to pay, will they be able to use this recording to weigh against the SoL argument?

I'm not sure if the conversation I had has forced me into paying this debt, or if I should wait out the remainder of the SoL timeframe. Can anyone explain the impact on my credit score for waiting out the last months versus paying it off at 50% now?

Any input is greatly appreciated, thank you!

I have a 2004 Dodge stratus that I owe 13,500 on and its not worth 7000. My husband also has a dodge TRUCK thats not worth 16000 but owes 29000, we are SO negative its not even funny and we both want new cars but cant get one cause our payments would be outrageous cause were so negative. We want new cars and have considered letting ours go back and in the meantime get brand new ones that we can afford and get a new house (rent) in the meantime, something where we can see ourselves being there for a long time. Only thing is i worryabout my credit.... my car is in my name and my husbands grandpa is co signer, on my hubbys truck its in his grandpas name and I am the co signer... how will this hurt me on either way? we want OUT OUT OUT of these negative cars so bad.

about 4 months ago my FICO score dropped suddenly from 670 to 570. i think it had to do with my applying for a credit card (just $500 limit)..... even though i had paid off a credit card with $4000 balance. now 4 months later my FICO score went back up to 670 even though the $4000 balance is back and I even applied for another credit card.

so what gives?

I live in Tampa Bay Area. When will the real estate market turn around? Has it bottomed out yet? Should I buy a home now? Are taxes capped yet? What about insurance?

Thanks.

I am a business teacher at a high school and we are going over a chapter on basic taxes. The question came up as to how much students could earn during a summer job but still not have to file their own return because their parents can claim them on the parents' return.
