I am just starting a home business part time and hopefully within two years be able to do my home business on a full time basis. Some advice I would give you in doing a home business is not to expect an income within the first year. That is why I started out part time. I was lucky enough to find a company that just doesn't offer me a residual income but helps me educate others and teach them how to become wealthy. If you want to find out about how to choose a company check out Robert Allen's book Multiple Streams of Income

I work from home. Most of my money comes from affiliate marketing. My website has free articles about home business and how to get started. There are links to the business I am involved in as well as a link where I got my start, free training is provided and free set up of a website. The training teaches you a lot. There's even a free ebook on internet business if you want to sign up for it. Go check the site out, lots of information. www.megaearnings247.com

Oh yes, I make cat toys. I cut and dry my own catnip, designed the toys, and found two people I can wholesale through as well as sell the items from my website.

I do need to declare it all on my taxes, fill out a schedule C, and do all the legal bits. I'm also registered as a home business (got a mobile sellers permit) for my sate, and for Pennsylvania where I have one sellers event that I do each year.

Buy your materials at discount, never pay retail if you don't have to, and recycle packing supplies (boxes, packing peanuts, bubble wrap, etc.). Keep costs as low as possible.

I do not own a home business...

because I would need to be "self-employed" then...
and I wouldn't like the idea of my income being limited
by the hour or energy I put into this...

home business... hmm... it's even wrong word
or bad word... because business itself should always
be capable of running on its own or its own staff...

just because somebody "works-from-home" doesn't mean
that's a business what he/she owns...

I would like to have a home business because I think shopping for office supplies would be a gratifying experience.

Take a look at this... it's a free e-book. Yes, the book is really free (no follow up e-mails or crap in your e-mail box either)

I work at home part time doing free-lance CAD drawing and 3D architectural renderings. It's tough to work at home. very easy to get distracted...
