I work for a printshop company and I want to leave early a couple of days a week and buy a computer to do some work at home. Can I deduct part of it in my taxes...?

Thanks

If a bank appraiser told you he would guarantee that the house you were trying to purchase would appraise for your (very) lowball offer if you slipped him $1000 under the table what would you do?

I am going line by line through my credit report as I hope to buy a house next year. I am confused about several things, one of which I will ask here :)

I have a credit card listed; here is what it says about it.
Date opened: 07/1998
Date Reported: 09/2000
Date of last activity: 10/1999
Current status: Pays as agreed
High Credit: $2,000
Credit limit: $0
Comments: Account closed at consumers request

From this information, should this have already been removed or should it be removed soon? Do I even want it to be removed as there is not bad information listed (except that I closed it).

I have another card on here with pretty much the same information except it was closed by the credit grantor although I did eventually pay it off. Should this be taken off after five years? Would I want it to be? Closed by the credit grantor is bad but is closed by the creditor bad...or neutral?

Thanks for your help! This stuff is very confusing : /

I have heard two conflicting ideas on building credit. I'm 21 with a steady income and a sizable savings (>$15,000) but little to no credit. My parents are co-signing on a bank credit card for me to help establish my credit. I have heard from a few people that it is better to maintain a small running balance (say between $10 and $50) on a card and make above the minimum payment and accrue some interest on that balance in order to increase your credit score, while others maintain it's better to pay it off in full each month. Does anyone have insight into these two methods, pros and cons of each, and which may be right or wrong. It would be worth it to spend a few dollars in interest payments every year if it would raise my credit score enough to save possibly 10's of thousands on a home loan in the future.

I went to the hospital a few months ago to have major surgery done on my hand. It was an emergency and I could not pay for it at the time, as I was not employed. I just barely started my new job. I have been getting calls from a debt collector telling me he "expects payment" by a certain date, and that people at the hospital were losing their jobs because of my debt. A lousy 700 bucks?! I find that hard to believe.
But my question is, what is the process that the debt collectors go through? I have no property for them to seize and nothing of any monetary value, no cash on hand, no bank account...What can this guy do to me?

A lien was recently [July, 2007] placed by the IRS against a piece of Real Estate in New York that is owned by an Estate that I am the Executor of.

How long do I have from the time the lien was placed by the IRS to the time that the IRS forces the property for sale or auction? If the property is forced for sale or auction by the IRS is there some type of redemption period that I have?

The Estate does not want me to sell the Real Estate.

I have always wondered, if you win the lottery for example, or you just have a huge sum of money, where would you deposit it because you cannot risk depositing it in a bank due to the fact you are only federally insured up to $100,000.

Hi again, loan experts. BTW, I've really appreciated all the many and various answers you've given and have learned so much. Sorry I can't just chose you all as best answers!

Anyways, the Lending Tree guy was trying to tell me to stay away from 80/20's because the interest rate on the "20" or second loan is never locked...meaning it can go up to 12% if the lender so decides. True? False?

A career that involves math. I know I'm only 13 but I want to get an idea of what I want to do. I'm smart, and am in honors math and like doing it. I also like psychology, but I know those two don't really go together. If they could go together, could you tell me what career involves both? Thanks.

Calling all renters! I have started a new Property Management Company because as a Manager for several years I was always very disappointed with the upper Management.

What has your experience been like with different Management companies. I would love to hear any positive things that you liked and or respected and of course any constructive criticism you can provide.

I am very excited to hear your answers, I am looking forward to building a company that you would enjoy renting with! Thank you,

I hope someone has some idea on this. I didn't file my taxes for 2006, because I didn't think I made enough where it mattered. I applied for financial aid, and with the amount of money I made last year I SHOULD have filed, but didn't...and now it's way past the deadline in April, obviously. And now my college is requesting for me to file my taxes before financial aid can be granted, but I'm past the deadline. What should I do in this situation? Any help would be much appreciated!

I live in MA and wondering who qualifies for unemployment benefits/pay? I thought it was just for people that were laid off from their jobs, or when their company went out of business. But some say you can still collect if you were fired from a job. Does anyone know the guidelines? or who can NOT collect.

I have $1000.00 in my account (one thousand dollars)..The bank just gave me any visa they didn't let me pick.. they sort of did some psychology.. they told me there was an 90% chance that I wouldnt get the visa.. then they told me I could have it as long as I deposit 1000.00 in my account.. I did...they told me that the car is in the mail now and will arrive in 5 bussiness days...

How much on average will they charge me for using the credit card, monthly.. I know you dont know my interest rate, but neither do I.. one of my friends told me that I shouldnt use the credit card until my money is finished, I should stop using it when theres 100.00 dollars left in my account.

HOW DOES THE **** WORK???? HELP ME PLEASE!

When I ask the bank questions they give me short vague answers..

I need the credit card topay for my SAT online and send score reports, pay application fees, etc then Im canceling it.. Im at a boarding school so I cant use my parents.

i dont know how to respond my own question, thats why i am pasting the old url here.
well folks i really appreciate your honest reply. most of you said go for a part time job. well, i am looking for it from the past 3 weeks and haven't found it yet. if i do a part time job than i will still make the minimum payment of credit cards not more than that. what i am trying to say over here is that , i have 2 options.
1. stay with this job, get 3yrs working experience.have no savings, and pay off loan in 3 years.
2. my second option is that go chicago drive limo and payoff my all debts around $28,000 in one year. after driving limo about 6 months i will start my MBA and can look for another job after 1yr when my all debts are paid off.
I need to choose b/w these options. please also tell me which Masters degree should i pursue to get a better job in future. my BBA Finance GPA was 3.36
