My dad and mom bought our house for $275,000 in 1980. They will pass this house down to me, what if I sell it when they pass away for $700,000. I'm single and don't plan to get married so would I pay huge taxes seeing how I would get a $250,000 tax shelter rather than a $500,000 shelter?..........also what if my dad passes away and my mom sells it will she get the $250,000 or $500,000 tax shelter?

I've been a professional driver for over 3 years. Two years as a trucker, one year as a bus driver (school and mass transit). I have over 100,000 miles in heavy vehicles without an accident or ticket. My personal driving record is spotless too.
I started working for another bus company. I spent 3 weeks in "training" where Spent two weeks listening to corporate BS and in the third week, I drove about 2 hours & they said move on to the 2nd phase of training.
I don't know why, but I can do no right with this person. No matter what I do, I'm wrong. I'm a damn good driver. All the other students on the bus can't figure out why this guy is so hard on me. I'm doing everything well, even when this raging lunatic doesn't give directions (I have no idea where we are going & I'm not allowed to find out beforehand). He suspended me for 3 days. Next Wednesday he's going to "give it to me good, then fire me".
This person is sick. He talks about killing puppies and deer and eating cats and horses.

I have a second interview for a job I am very excited about. Does this mean that they are really interested in me or would they bring me in if they weren't interested? I don't want to get my hopes up. During the first interview he seemed to be very interested and I got a good vibe.

I'm currently 7 months pregnant--due on Labor day. Remember this.

When I was a senior in college, I had my son. I took a month off (doctor's orders) and finished the semester with 15 hours and a 4.0. The next semester I was an intern at a local Special Olympics and loved it. They loved me.

Now they have a job available, and I KNOW that I would be able to at least get an interview with them. I excelled at this internship, and they often mentioned that their past interns did nothing but play around on the computer while I really made differences in their fundraising. It was said I brought the largest sponsors to the table in the 4 years my supervisor had been there.

That being said, I'm 7 months pregnant. Right now I'm doing fine--the hypertension they said I had has gone away without medication and there's no diabetes. I do, however, look 7 months pregnant.

The question is this: do I have a shot?

In other words, I want the honest truth: if you were in their shoes...

He was let go after being required to work eight 12 hour shifts in a row, he got sick, had enough points to take a half day, told the supervisor he wasn't feeling well and had to go home, the supervisor said do you have enough points for that my fiance replied yes and I will see you for the extra mandatory day tomorrow. The employement agency then called and said stop by the office before you go back to your job, he did and was told that he was not to report back to that job he had been terminated. Now the employment agency is saying he isn't eligible for rehire...is there anything legally that can be done?

I have worked for this company for 2 1/2 years. About 6 months ago a new girl was hired in our department, making $1 an hour more than me. She does the same work I do, has less office experience, is less educated, and had to be trained to do the job. Management has changed since I was hired, and it was determined that the new person coming in would make X dollars per hour. I feel like my hourly wage should have been raised at least to match hers, but it wasn't. Any equal pay for equal work laws I have seen refer to sex discrimination, but we are both female.

My father is being sued by his former manager. The manager is claiming that he never received any of the profit from the company. He received a salary but there essential no profits to split. In actuality he received more money than my father because at times my father would not take a salary. The company has never been very profitable at all. Twice my father had to secure a private loan (based on the equity from his personal home) to keep the finances of the company afloat. Can the gentlemen suing my father also be held liable for the debts incurred in the company? And if a court does decide to force my father to buy his 30% of the company, how will they evaluate the companies worth? I mean if the company is making no profit and is actually in the red then would he recieve essetnailly 30% of nothing?

My broker gave me an estimate on how much it would cost to buy a mobile home (estimated at $80K) and he asked me to fill out the application and fax it to him. (A lot of personal information need to be filled out on this form). At this point, I do not know the exact amount of $$$ I have to pay. What should I do?
Is Loan Application a commitment to buy? or Just a Credit check? Can I refuse to buy this mobile home after the Loan Application is submitted?
Please advise- Thank you so much

I have called to interview for a job, and left three messages. I recently found out that the principal has no intentions of calling me for an interview because I have 5 children. His position is that there is no way I can handle a teaching job as a mother of five children.

Isn't this discrimination? Does he have the right to refuse me an application based on my private life, not even immoral private life? Does it matter that it is a private non-profit school, as opposed to a public-government-run school?

I wouldn't sue or anything, I'm just kind of frustrated.

I had a mortgage company call me and say that they can lower my monthly payment $140-200 a month, and then I spoke to them again and they said they might be able to say me up to $400.00 dollars. Is this some kind a skeem? I checked out the company online and it looks legit. How can they actually lower it that much, will I be paying them to much, where it wouldn't be worth it?

Met a guy around 32 years of age that I've been seeing for awhile now. We got into the discussion of money. He has a good job (been there 12 years), but doesn't really have any savings (about $900) and lives paycheck to paycheck. He's been divorced awhile now and received just about $14,000 after all was said and done. That $14000 has since been spent--in about 4-5 months. I'm a saver and have money invested in a 401K plus a state retirement plan. I kind of got a shock when he indicated it didn't matter to him if he was "financially secure" when it came time to make big decisions whether it be to buy somthing or start a family...he just does it. I asked this question in the singles/dating forum and got only one answer that indicated "maybe you can teach him how to save money". My gut tells me to not pursue. Please tell me I'm not shallow for thinking about money when it comes to dating/relationships. Are there any guys out there in their 30's that like to save like I do?

Can I have an IRA and also a 401K plan at the sametime?

I am planning on getting a Traditional IRA plan so I can put away $4000 tax free for this year. However, my company may possibly introduce a 401K plan soon.

If I invest $4000 in an IRA account this year, and if my company introduces a 401K plan a little later this year, am I allowed to contribute to both IRA & 401K plans in the same year?

FYI, my filing status is married filing jointly and my wife has a 401K plan at her work place.

Would appreciate any guidance here. Thanks.

The apt. that I just moved into said that the apt. would be on the third floor but has a car garage next to it so that moving in would be easy since the car can pull up to the apt. On the day of moving in, I found out that the car garage was attached to a seperate building an I had to move my things up to the third floor. They also told me that they provided trash pick up on monday wednesday and friday, but I have had to call them more than 5 times to get the trash taken out after it has been sitting out for 2 weeks. Dealing with the management has been absolutly horrible and I was wondering about any legal action or anything else to get things done.

I had an outstanding interview Monday, after which I sent a thank you e-mail. The interviewer called me today to let me know they would be making a decision by the close of business next Monday. Should I send her another email thanking her for the update or would that be excessive? I was going to send something short and sweet.
