I've been a professional driver for over 3 years. Two years as a trucker, one year as a bus driver (school and mass transit). I have over 100,000 miles in heavy vehicles without an accident or ticket. My personal driving record is spotless too.
I started working for another bus company. I spent 3 weeks in "training" where Spent two weeks listening to corporate BS and in the third week, I drove about 2 hours & they said move on to the 2nd phase of training.
I don't know why, but I can do no right with this person. No matter what I do, I'm wrong. I'm a damn good driver. All the other students on the bus can't figure out why this guy is so hard on me. I'm doing everything well, even when this raging lunatic doesn't give directions (I have no idea where we are going & I'm not allowed to find out beforehand). He suspended me for 3 days. Next Wednesday he's going to "give it to me good, then fire me".
This person is sick. He talks about killing puppies and deer and eating cats and horses.

It is plain to see he is deeply disturbed. I don't see any future at this firm. My wife says wait to get fired. I'm going to use my suspension to go out on interviews. I don't think I will come in on Wednesday, because any job is better than this. I have never seen a more mentally ill person than this person. He has more repetitive peculiar habits than I could list. He has an obsession with dead animals. He is also very racist.
I know this is not a reflection on me or my ability. I'm trying hard to not be bothered by it.

Definitely go look for something else, but show up Wednesday - if you get fired, you can file for unemployment until you line something else up. (Easier if they fire you, than if you quit and file for "Constructive Discharge")

Definitely write down what has happened - and turn him in to HR.

This guy needs to be fired - he's scary & sick. And if he IS a racist, you may never know what you did to tick him off (obviously, it sounds like HIS problem, not yours)

Please Please Please, talk to HR! That's what they are for (even when they don't help, at least it will go into his file!) (Give something to them in writing - that way they can't say they were not aware.)

You might consider needing to talk to a lawyer, depending on how this all resolves ...

Best of luck!

You should never quit a job before you have another. Just a good rule of thumb. I would document everything that happens by keeping a daily journal. Stick it out, if you do get fired by wrongful termination at least you have something documenting what actually happened. This should allow you to receive unemployment benefits as well. Whatever you do, keep your resume updated and your options open. Good luck!!

I have driven an 80,000 pound truck and trailer over Roger's Pass...
Other than that, I have no experience similar to yours. However, from the situation you describe, it is clear: It is time to move on.
If you are fired, allegedly you are elligible for unemployment.
However, it makes a black mark on your record.
I would just turn in my time and tell them I KNOW I am good, and don't need the hassle, and never look back.
Someone should suggest to that guys boss that that person needs "help".

as a fellow truck driver, I know where you are at.. we can never make any of these companies happy regardless of what we do. You know as well as I do that there is a huge demand for our skills. So get out first chance you get.

Absolutely, cut your losses.
No matter what comes of this situation, it probably won't be good. I can't see this as being an enjoyable work situation ever!

I'm surprised you've lasted this long! Good luck.

sure sounds like harassment, I think you need to go over this ******* head and talk to someone responsible in upper management as well as an attorney specializing in labor law.
