Still waiting on mine, eager to get my refund back.

2007-02-01 02:54:45 · 9 answers · asked by Joy_Brigade 3 in United States

I worked as an employee from Jan-Sept with a company in 2006. I left this company in September to open my own business. I spent thousands of dollars towards opening my store, which I was supposed to open on December 5, 2006. Due to some major issues with my General Contractor, I was unable to open my store in 2006. I still have not opened it. I have had my store location leased since October, 2006.

My question is this...
Since I did not receive a single dollar in sales from my store in 2006, do I claim all of my expenses towards it anyway (we're talking about in excess of $75,000), or do I just file my income from the job I had from Jan-Sep, and claim my business expenses on my 2007 taxes since I will be open that year?

Please advise if you know how I should handle this. Thanks.

Im thinking of moving my pension to a BGI Global Equity (40:60) Index with 60% of investment going to uk markets and 40% going to overseas markets and also putting some in property, by investing in business properties that may grow through rent and capital values, with my money being reinvested to increase the value of the units. I do not have the foggiest idea about what i just said, this way of investing in my pension sounds good so i have just typed it from a book. I would like opinions on my ideas. Thanks

I'd really like to move to California, but I have no idea where to start. I mean, I do know where I'd like to relocate to but I'm afraid to go out there without already having a job and a place. And I'm completely understanding that it costs more to live out there I just don't have the cash to go out there, look for a job and a place. Come back home, get my stuff and then go back out there. I'd like to be there and thats it. Can anyone help me, with a constructive answer?

How can I know he just tries to make me feel comfortable with him? We don't have much to say, but he looks at me different. I am so scare to go to the meeting while he is there, I just sat there. He told my supervisor that he feels like I intimidate him. Why he does not try on other girls in the office? I am so confused.

I may be moving in the near future and do not want to maintain ownership if i'm not able to help with either property. I also don't want to have to refi to have someone else placed on the loans. Is it possible to simply have someone else take my spot as the join owner on both loans as long as they have sufficient income to replace mine?

I work for a company that usually pays a good bonus and as such the salary is very low to compensate. The hours are very long and everyone always goes the extra mile, but this year they are not paying any bonus, so for some people their basic is not enough to survive...is this fair or do we just need to suck it up!

I would like to take the standard deduction of $30 for the federal excise tax. I was wondering if this pertains to wireless phone services as well. I've had sprint cell phone service since May 2005. I have a family shared plan with 2000 anytime minutes and free long distance. In viewing the online invoices, I noticed that they do not break down the tax charges so i'm not 100% sure. Thanks in advance.
