My son closed on a house on 06/01/06. An adjustment of $989 was shown on the closing statement for items unpaid by seller for real estate taxes from 01/01/06 thru 05/31/06. The 1098 form he received from his mortgage company showed $2566 taxes paid.

What is the amount he can claim as his deduction?

I have thought of an idea which would be very attractive to, i would guess 99 percent of the population throughout the world.
I would like to build a website that could potentialy open doors to major success ! but i am affraid of people hitting on the idea ahead of me, if i were to explain my plans of this possibly very lucrative buissness .

Ive heard of patent, which i guess is what you need to do if you discover something and you dont want anyone to copy write the idea, im now wondering what the first stages of profesional advice would be to take and who to approach under these circumstances

I let my mom borrow my car to get to work for about 6 months. I knew she had it, I never insured it and neither did she. My dad is abusive and tries to contol everyone and their possessions (my car, my apartment, my bf's car). He hit a local business and caused 15k of damage. He has never worked and my mom just recently started a job-I have had to work for everything in my life and I'm frustrated with always being taken advantage of.

My dad was taken away from the scene in an ambulance, the owner's of the property he hit never received his name or contact info. Since the car is registered to me, am I liable? Although it was his accident, will my future car insurance premium go up because of this?

Do you take on the extra job? It pays ok, its a fun bar/entertainment industry, it will help move me closer to my goals, its a starting position but plenty of room to advance,and i can work at improving my scheduling, and it will help keep me out of trouble. on the other hand, it is time consuming, it is a menial job to begin with, there are other job part time options, and additional work means additional scheduling conflicts with regular work. So do you go for it?

My husband's company is in dire straits. He says they may have to declare bankrupcy. What's the difference between chapter 7 and 11? He is almost 60 years old, needs to have both his knees replaced soon due to injuries from the War. He is very smart and has a lot of business experience, but what will he do to support the family? I have been offered several times this kind of investment by several friends but i still do not understand how. I set a kitchen showroom up with somebody i worked with for about a year an opertunity came up to open a showroom ,as he was more the office type i left him to set us up as ltd company i thought as equal partners.after about 6 months it was obvious we could not work together ,and once i discovered he had given himself 60% of the company and legally he had fianle say in things i decided to resign as directorbut keep shares and leave him to it.i am still responsible for a lease on the shop and a loan,he will not speak to me so i have no idea how the company is running or the state of monies .do i have any rights as a shareholder,is there any thing i can do to see the books?
