Our landlord is a greedy piece of trash. We have paid our rent on time every single month for over 2 years and she will not fix anything. We have contacted local agencies and filed a formal complaint. They told us to send her a formal letter stating exactly what we need done to our house. Can anyone help me with this? What do I need to put in the letter? Any websties with examples? Thanks to all!

I had opened a credit card for a very good friend of mine several years ago. He owes several thousands of dollars to the IRS and now they are taking $2000 from each paycheck...so he is unable to pay on this card. The credit card company is willing to settle for 80% of the entire bill. I am wondering if I should just pay off the settlement fee (it is about $13000), or if I should try to transfer the debt into my friend's name? Do you think that is at all possible? I'm not sure the credit card company would allow that since his credit is pretty bad.
Thanks for your help!

I received a letter about two weeks ago from a co. in Quebec/Canada stating that I had won 45,000.00 dollars and that I needed to call within 7 days to claim the prize and they enclosed a check for 3,250.00 which they claim is for nonresidential taxes. We researched the web and we couldn't find the name of the co....so we called the bank where the check was issued (MA) and they said that the check was not good. I contacted the co. that sent me the letter and have been talking to them and the last thing they said is that they are going to check with the bank but I have not heard from them yet...I called yesterday and they want me to send them the 3,250 out of my money while they look into this. Of course I said no.. Any ideas on how to handle this???

I know employers must pay non-exempt employees for overtime, but do they have to pay employees an hourly wage for all hours worked under 40? I was in a non-exempt position where I was required to log all my hours. I was paid my "full salary" for working 25 or more hours in a week but often actually had to work 30-35 hours to perform my duties. I recieved no additional compensation for hours worked over 25. I often worked on Friday's for free basically. Is it legal for employers to do this?

Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question, but I have no one to ask.

I got a part-time job in October of last year, but I haven't been earning much, do I still have file taxes? If so, what exactly is the process? =/

I'm told the Grant Writers Code of Ethics will not let them write grants on a commission basis. Are Grant Writers not there to benefit the non profits as well as them self? Most grants will not allow you to include the cost of a Grant Writer. Are Grants not there to benefit non profits?
The world is full of successful people who work on commission. I know I'm one of them I am in Real Estate, Mortgages and Financial Services. I question the Grant Writers success rate when they require money up front. I'm sure there are many successful grant writers out there so if any one knows the answer to this catch 22 for nonprofits who need grant to pay for a Grant Writer PLEASE HELP!!!!
