You have three years to turn your life around. Work hard, study hard. At least you have ambition, that is a start. Look on a website for the police force and see what criteria they are looking for in new recruits. Keep the dream and make it your reality. Good luck to you.

Don't worry about being smart enough. But do worry about staying in school, learning what you can, and staying out of trouble. When you're 13, you don't realize the impact some things you do have on your future career choice. I'm not saying you have to be an angel, but just think before you act. As you get older, don't concentrate on just learning about law enforcement, police departments want more rounded folks these days.

Consider doing a tour in the military, before going into law enforcement. It will give you a sense of self discipline, expose you to many things, cultures, and people you might not otherwise be exposed to, and definately help you land that police job when the time comes. Education is important too. College, while not completely necessary, will help you more than you know. But don't worry about whether you are smart enough or not. You're 13. No 13 year old is smart enough, for anything! That's why you have parents.

Law Enforcement IS an honerable profession, don't let anyone tell you otherwise, but so is working in a factory. That's one of those things you'll learn that will help you be "smart enough" when the time comes.

Good luck to you.

You are smart enough, if you want it bad enough!

The first thing is the advantage of knowing what you want to do. Start now with good study habits. It will take a lot of studing and memorizing policies to get through the police academy. If you start studing maps of the desired city you'll work in, that will be a huge advantage also. You'll need to learn all the streets, and blocks.

Many people go right out of high school and try out for the academy, but also do volunteer work at the police station or check into a civilian training corse that many depts. offer. If you do have difficulity, if you've been in the military first, you have the advantage.

Smaller towns are also an option that have easier criteria many times, but experience will help. Security jobs can help gain a little bit of experience.

Don't get arrested for anying! If all else fails, police depts have many civilian jobs that used to be officer positons (to save money, but benefits still good.)

Keep in shape! It has a real benefit for getting through the physical part of the academy. Check into where you want to be and talk to some of the officers, do a ride along when you get old enough!

Good Luck!

If you decide to become a naturopath it has to be something you really want to do, I wouldn't go into it half-heartedly. I don't necessarily think that naturopaths are mocked or not accepted. Generally there are two types of people who may mock it: 1.The Denialists, they will deny that anything natural can work and be beneficial because they only believe in pharmaceutical drugs. The problem with these people being and why they re termed denialists and not sceptics because being a scepetic is taking into account the evidence, whereas a Denialist just ignores the evidence. So I wouldn't worry about these people, they are nothing to lose sleep over, they hold onto their now out-dated style of questioning and will soon be forgotten about. 2. The second group of people that may knock it are those that know nothing of it, and these people once conversed with will nearly always see the point in what you are doing, as these people can appreciate something good when they see it. So if it is something you want to do then go for it, if it something you are passionate about. You really need to think about what it is you would love to do. There's an interesting book you can buy called something like "do the job you love and the money will follow."

Have you looked into the military for a career? The military will train you to do your job of choice. There are military police...and if you say enlist for 6 years...and decide that you no longer want to be a part of the military, you will find it a lot easier to work for a regular police force.

Furthermore...you can do anything you set your mind to. At the age of 13 you will not have all of the skills necessary to be an effective police officer. Stay in school and you will develop more skills.

Well, just keep doing good in school and ask a local Police Officer about going to the Police Academy.

First of all, Lee, you should realize that your father, although only a shop worker, is the one who is providing you with a home, necessities, and schooling. So no doubt, he is smart enough to do that. If you truly want to become a police officer then you had better realize that it doesn't just take smarts, but a determination, a good moral sense of duty..like your father probably already possesses.

There is nothing wrong with working in a factory as it is an honest job-boring maybe. But you can be anything you want to be. Set your sights high. I think you are smart enough to be a policeman. Go for it and good luck.
