Texas does not have a state income tax. We only file federal income tax. So whatever rules apply to rest of the country apply to us.

And you can get the Earned Income Tax Credit, which is responsible for giving big refunds to low income earners. But this is not exclusive to Texas...it's for everyone.

Perhaps this question belongs on the United States board, rather than the Canada tax board.

Texas is in the United States, still, and Canada is not.
