I am a sulf sufficient, 24-yr old college student. My parents have been claiming me as a dependent even tho I haven't been living at home or getting any support from them. I brough this to their attention last year (bc I thought it was not right that I could not clain the Lifelong Learning Credit bc they'd already filed), and just recently the IRS contacted both of us bc my SSN was used on their and my tax return last year. They are in the process of looking into it.

Should I get in trouble for this, even though I didn't know they were doing it til it was too late? What should I do about this situation?

--This is a business opportunity not a job so no interview is needed. My friends travel now, they don't need to work. They get an obscene amount of money direct-deposited each week as they sit on the beach sipping drinks with little umbrellas in them. I know because that is how they recruited me. I was skeptical too, till they took me to the hawaiian islands for a week vacation, all paid for. How is that "too good to be true" when it is? If others are not successful then they must not have been good at it or they did not work the system as it is set out for them. Just because there are those who can't work the system doesn't mean the system is flawed, considering there are those who do now get paid $8000 a week sitting on the beach.

Why has Microsoft decided to stay on the NASDAQ and not switch over to the NYSE like most companies do. Aren't the commission fees a bit higher on the NASDAQ.

Of course when the amount of insurance in increased, the insurance premium also increases. I have only $125,000 left on the mortgage and insurance company has increased the insurance to cover a value of $305,000. Real estate value of the home is $450,000. My credit rating is excellent and I have not had any insurance claims

I am 27 years old and I finally got a career of my dreams that I am thankful for this year. I pray that I get hired on for good. My questions is this:
What is the best way to save for an apartment? I will be a first time home buyer as of the end of the year or maybe the beginning of next year. I am in the process of trying to file a Chapter 7 due to a lack of job and money security. I realy do not want to do a Chapter 7, but i will have too in order to get out of debt and start anew.

Thank you in advance for your help.

My father pass away a year ago with some money owed to credit card company. My stepmother didn't know she didn't have to pay the money owed because of credit card insurance, and because her name was a secondary user she didn't want to cancel the card. She was the one who was working and paying the bill anyway. Now the credit co. called her requesting to speak to my father to inform him of something new they were offering. Thats when she told them he had passed away. They told her that being the case she would have to turn in the credit card and apply for a new one in her name, even though the card in question was already in her name. She refused to fill out a credit app. My question is that if she has paid the credit card off several times since his death, does the credit card owe her a refund of the moneies they owed at the time of his death?

Is it a bunch of brainwashed greedy salesmen...or a fantastic financial services source? They target middle income families and many don't have that much money to begin with and it would be wrong to sell them something they can't afford.

Could some one give me the formula for calulating the mortgage repayment figure. Consider the following example for calulation.
Suppose the Principal is $ 250,000 ( borrowed money )
Interest is 8.00%
Time for loan repayment is 20 years
Frequency of repayment is monthly
So what will be the repayment amount = ............/ month????
I know now a days with the help of software I can just put the above figure in the respective columns and I will get the result within a second but I want to know the calculating formula so that I can calculate myself.
Thanks for your answer in advance.

OK, I'm confused. I just read one website that says my employers contribution to my HSA account is not taxable. Our HR manager (not always the most knowledgeable thing, God bless her) just gave us forms to file with our taxes.
I don't use an accountant, and can generally do my own taxes. I just can't figure out if I can avoid having to list my HSA as income.
Anyone have any good links to refer me to or good info?

I'm receiving letters from Portfolio Recovery Associates about a bill that I supposedly have. The Prior Creditor is listed as SBC. Upon doing some investigating on the internet, I found out that SBC is a phone company that is in quite a few states, but not the state that I have lived in my entire life. I checked my credit report and found that I also have a prior address on there that is from Indiana, when I have never lived there! I visited there over 5 years ago with a friend and was only there for a week, and the address now on my report is where we stayed at, with her aunt. While I was there, my purse (with all of my information in it, including my MN drivers license and SS card) went missing for 2 days. The weird thing was, the day I was going to report it stolen, it suddenly reappeared. I had an idea already of what had happened, but had no proof. Now this! I am going to write a validation letter, but after that, what can I do???

I graduated from UCF with a degree in Accounting but am having trouble finding a job. I do not have much in the way of experience. Most positions require 1-3 years of experience or just a high school dimploma with no experience but only pay $10. I don't mind starting at the bottom, but I need to be able to pay my bills too. Can anyone help me? THANKS!!!
