Start small. Pick a topic, and prepare a speaking engagement with your friends. If it is successful, ask your friends to tell their friends. Do the first few for free, to build a following. You can also put fliers up in your local stores advertising it.
You could also talk to local churches and community groups to see if they have any interest in promoting you.
