HAve an interview with a staffing firm monday for a permanent job at a law firm that I really want. I've never used a staffing firm before- what is the protocol on this? Do you wear regular interview attire (i.e. nice business suit?) or is it more casual? And if less formal, what would you suggest? Just nice black slacks and a nice blouse or something?

I am going to file my taxes in the next few days. However, I will be helping my ex with his taxes in the next couple of months. He had a hard year in 2006, and I have considered allowing him to claim one of our daugher's if he has a large tax liability. If I go ahead and put her on my return, am I able to amend my return and take her off so that he can claim her in the future? He can't do his taxes for awhile, and I prefer not waiting that long if possible. Please advise!

For a company that is incorporated, how long do you need to keep all the business records (i.e.: customer invoices, vendor invoices, cleared checks, computer generated reports for month end/year end, etc.)?

My friend has a business that he bought from his father in the beginning of 2000, however he and his brother were partners in the business prior to him buying them out in 2000. He has tons and tons of old papers, reports, invoices (customers & vendors), etc. that date back to 1980. I'm trying to clear out files of paperwork that is unnecessary and cluttering the office drawers, cabinets, etc. as there is no room left in file cabinets or anywhere.

I recall hearing 7 years but I want to make sure.

Thanks for all of your answers! :o)

it was base plus commission and you made $5,000 in commission a month but it would be $6,000 but your company takes the first $1,000 every month because that offsets cost to your manager and other company cost.

Some people will think well you are making 60 grand plus your base, dont complain, but I dont think this is fair. I mean this was NOT told to me when I was hired, and thats $12,000 a year that I could use. I thought the company paid for the managers pay and other company cost by other means NOT taken out of MY SALES!

What do you think???

can a landlord change the locks on your garage that he rents to you?
I rent a garage in NJ and first I found that the landlord was using the same garage to store his stuff in and they scratched my truck and used the bed of the truck for shelves. I called the landlord and all he said was he was sorry. The next time that i went to my garage my washer was missing when I called the landlord again his secretary said that he was on vacation, he would call me back, I then asked her how much notice I had to give to get out of my lease, she replied "30days" I then told her consider today my 30 day notice. I now recieved a certified letter stating that he changed the locks on the garage and if I enter he will get me for criminal trespass. The secretary called me and asked me if I got the letter and I told her that I had given my 30 day notice and I still had till the 29th to remove my things. She then told me that I did not give the notice in writing. What can I do?

I chanced to come across this article on Bloomberg and wanted a help regarding that. The article mentions about a bond issued by Exxon Mobil. I tried to look for the latest YTM for this bond but could not find it listed anywhere, or rather I did not find any bond issued by Exxon Mobil listed ( I searched Yahoo Finance site).

I need this information for a project of mine at MBA program. I look forward to your cooperation.

3 weeks ago, I was hired as an administrative assistant to the director of a nonprofit. I can't take it anymore! It's very boring, repetitive and tiring.

Also, since the first day, I try to be polite and engage my coworkers in conversation but some continue to ignore me. Its like I'm going out of my way to be nice but to no avail.

The first day on the job, the girl I replaced told me that the position has a high turnover.

I really want to quit but I just started and it took me over a year to find a job in the first place. And of course, I'm broke with like no job experience.

How long should I stay at this job before I quit? What should I do in the meantime?

I have had a financial company calling me concerning a neighbor that owes them money. She is not a relative, nor do I know her that well. Is this legal?? She has been a good neighbor for about 5 years and I do know she draws SSI disability and is on a tight budget. I told her once before that this company was calling me in order to find her, but she said she has not received any mail correspondance from any companies and does not know who it is calling me. If this is not legal practice is there anything either she or I can do? I don't want to get in the middle of someone elses financial difficulties, but I don't feel it is right for a company to contact me about another person.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help with this!
