I came up with the give-the-keys-to-the-friend solution before I got down to it in your question. (Honest) I would add that I would have grabbed the umbrella out of the car first. While I can see the logic in your second solution my ethics would not let me do that. My other solution is that I drive a four seater car. So I can let the little old lady be taken care of by my friend (after all he has some experience at saving lives) and have the perfect partner ride shotgun so we could get to know each other better. If you insist that I am in a 2 seater (I'll pick a Lotus 7 please) then I would call an ambulance for the little old lady, have my friend ride with her to the hospital (where they happen to work) and drive the perfect partner home. If people can make up contrived questions, then I can give contrived answers. Alternatively I could ask my wife what she is doing at a bus stop, introduce her to my old friend and (since she is a nurse) ask her to help the little old lady.

"Laboratory technician" seems to be what you're describing. If you need something more specific, you should be able to find a book called the Dictionary of Occupational Titles at your library.

That would depend on what type of tests the person performs. Were you looking for clinician?
