OK so I found a condo I want to buy and I received two seperate pre approvals, one at $140,000 and the other at $170,000. Both loans however were the same monthly payment of $1300. What I can realistically afford per month is $1000. I am sort of confused how each lender came about the monthly payment and need to know if I can get the payment down to $1000? Also, my realtor spoke about giving $500. when we bid for good faith. What does this mean? Can I get it back or does it go towards something? Any and all help or knowledge you can provide will be a big help. Thanks so much!!! Oh and I am a first home buyer not looking to put anything down.

This is in California. I lost my full time job in December. I have worked a few days here and there and get paid (W-9) as an independent contractor for the benefit of the employer. Will this disqualify me, even if I don't have my own business?

I'm applying to be a correctional officer and the application form asks me to provide, in detail, all drugs i've taken in the past and when. i smoked pot once in high school and have taken Exctasy several time in the past year. I'm not addicted to anything and if required to take a urine sample i will pass. Should i admit that i've done the drugs in the past or just mark "No"?

I make very little money a month. I have an IRA worth 150,000 dollars and a townhouse worth 240,000. I have a mortgage of 65,000. No other debt or car payment. Since my divorce, my salary has gone way down 20,000 a year. I have two girls in private colleges. Their dad, however, pays a big chunk of college. I worry about this every day. I want to know what you think about taking 65,000 from my investment account to pay off my mortgage. I know I would get hit with the penalty - it would ease up my finances considerably. My mortgage is 470 per month. Opinion please???? Thank you for your time.

I have an old Cingular Wireless bill that is in collections and I wanted to know if I can call Cingular and try to settle the debt with them, or do I have to deal with the collection agency that has the old debt now. Do you think they would be willing to negotiate a settlement offer with me for a lower payment then what I owe? I had an offer before with the agency at one time, but two weeks before the payment was due, I was laid off my job so I couldn't make the payment. They have since sent it to another agency that's trying to collect. Please, someone who knows, respond with suggestions.

I want to learn to invest myself but am not satisfied with mutual funds and lower rates of return. I am fairly new to australia and am not familiar with rules and investments here. I went to a couple of Options seminars here and have a couple of options books I am going though now. I also set up an account (no real money in it yet) on www.optionsxpress.com.au which allows me to do "virtual trades" to practice. what is the best software to (a) do technical analysis and (b) recommend the best trades. Again, I want to do better than just buying into mutual funds or bank stocks, etc. Those are safe but I won't make much money unless I wait 30 years. Any suggestions?

I am looking to buy a condo and know that, before you buy a house, you need an inspection to make sure it is structurally sound. Since the condo association takes care of the structure (exterior walls, pipes, etc), would I need the same kind of inspector/inspection as someone who is buying a house? Is there such a thing as a 'condo inspector'? I just need to know if the furnance, water heater, interior walls are ok.

I am an USA citizen (California resident). I moved to Taiwan 10 years ago to teach English. In the past 10 years, I file tax return in Taiwan, but I thought I don't need to file tax return in USA and California. I earn approx. US$30,000 every year. Now I am applying green card for my wife. The embassy here ask me to file tax return for year 2005. My questions are:

1. Do I need to file income tax return (Fed and CA) for the past 10 years now?

2. Would I be penalized for not filing in the past?
3. Is private tutor income qualified for foreign earned income credit? If my students did not give me invoice, what kind of supporting document is needed?

Heres the scenario for a call option, and please answer the questions in brackets or correct me
lets say i buy 5 contracts (100shares/contract...is it always 100 shares/contract? ) of CALL OPTIONS of EBAY @ $20/share (is this price set by the market? and how much would it cost me to buy these 5 contracts?) and choose my expiration to be on Dec 1st, 07 (and do i choose my expiration date?), then the stock of ebay goes up to $30 in Septemeber so i decide to sell my calls in Sept(is that called excersing it?) would i have made 15,000 - 10,000 = $5000, i dont think thats the case...isnt the point of buying calls to buy 'em for a lot cheaper than $20/share and make a handsome profit? if its $20/share as the price on the stock market, how would calls be different than just buying and selling stocks? ok i guess this sums it better shouldnt the price/share when buying calls be a lot cheaper than the price in the stock market?

i thank u in advance for all the answer
